Well, I have known that the inevitable was coming, but it is now becoming more of a reality. I had LTKR on June 9, and I was wondering when the day would come that I would be doing RTKR.

I have 3 young sons, and doing it over the summer was difficult with having them home all of the time. I am not too excited about doing it over the winter because of the holidays, the ice, and all of that good stuff! So, I'm thinking after spring break. This would buy me a little time before summer actually begins.

I'm only 4 months out from the first one, and things are FINALLY getting back to normal (somewhat). My right leg is really talking to me, so when I saw the OS today, he offered another cortisone shot because I last had one when I had the LTKR. He seems to think that if I get another shot in a few months, this hopefully will hold me over until spring.

I was not planning on doing this again so soon, I thought I would get a few more years out of my right leg, but as my husband always says, "It is what it is!" I'm scared to death, but after seeing how so many of you have done with having both done MUCH closer, I'm hoping I'll do okay, let's just hope the shots hold out for a while!

Thanks for all of your support so far, and I'm back asking for more,
Hess

Here's hoping the shot holds you over, with a family and young children you need both legs. I know you are young, it breaks my heart to think of so many young people having to have this surgery but then we should be thankful we live in an age when it is possible. Glad I had both knees done at the same time. Will keep you in my prayers. Good luck, Rowdy

Oh boy! sometimes life really knows how to sock it to us, doesn't it? You have my sympathies and a my prayers.

Hess -
Hang in there. I hope the shots provide enough of relief to help you get to a time when you feel "ready" to do the deed again. I think that may be the difference for many of us. If we know its voming we can better prepare. I think I will do whatever is a more permanent solution to the hip issue as soon as school quits in May - I want the most time I can get to do the rehab without workng. Sounds like you are preplanning as well.

HAng in there - we will all be here for you - just as you have been there for us!

Marianne

Hess, hope the cortisone will help tide you over. They do wonders for me at the moment. I am hoping I will at least get my ROM to 120 by the time I get my LTKR.
Good luck!!
