Checked in at 10:10am and was on the way home around 3pm. I do not have an ultra sling….yay! I admit that I do not like the nerve block. I know when it wears off, I’ll be happy I had it but I absolutely hate my arm being numb ; it is from the left side of my chest down to my fingertips. I’m trying to keep my hand in the darn sling!

No pain yet but headed to bed soon, with Tylenol, Dilaudid & anti nausea meds on board.

@InkedMarie Yeah you made it! Welcome to shoulder recovery. Do, please, start a new thread for yourself over on the shoulder post op side. Those nerve blocks are a bit weird, aren't they?! And yes they do wear off fairly quickly. Hope you rest well!

Rest well, Deb? LOL it’s 3:25am here and I’m drinking ginger ale & munching on saltines! I may have snoozed an hour but I’ve been wide awake since 1am.

:wave:Good Morning InkedMarie,
I hope you were able to get comfy enough to get some more sleep last night.
We started your shoulder recovery thread. Please let us know if you’d like a different title and we will edit accordingly. May your recovery be easy peasy! :thumb:

This title is just fine, @Layla ! Here is what was done:

Labrum & rotator cuff debridement
limited synovectomy
subacromial decompression

No, I never got more sleep. Tried for a nap but no luck. The nerve block is wearing off….started feeling something so I took one Dilaudid & a couple Tylenol, just in case. As soon as my husband comes back, my bandage can come off and when my block has completely left my body, I can remove the sling.
My post op is next Thursday for the shoulder & the week after that is the hand surgeon follow up.

I’ve had no pain, at all. The block wore off but no pain. I have no idea why but it was the same with my knees. Anyway, took the sling off the next day when the block was gone. I wore it to grocery shop last Sunday but not since. I slept in the recliner the first three days but went back to my bed to sleep on my side.

Had my one week post op yesterday for my shoulder. The stitches are out. I’m enclosing a picture with the stitches. The surgeon was so darn proud of himself that he “hid” the incisions for two in my tattoo & apologized for not being able to do the same for the third.

I start PT on Tuesday. He said he does not believe in “no pain, no gain”. Phew. If it hurts, don’t do it. I go back on August 24th for a recheck where I will get my restrictions for work. I’m a kitchen manager at a tiny school where I have to lift up to 40lbs and my oven is high so arms need to be able to reach up. I have a helper but still need proper paperwork, obviously.

I will add carpal tunnel release: so different from first one, done in 2020 by different surgeon. This one has caused bruising and I have stitches. Other one was easier. I see her next Wednesday for post op.

Wow, Marie. Impressive! Did he tell you he was going to try to hide a few stitches ahead of time?
Good luck when you see him again on the 24th! Also for your Carpal tunnel appt tomorrow.
