I woke up with an upset stomach after having been feeling really bad yesterday. My temp this AM was 98.6 but that was a couple hours after my pain medication of 2 ibuprofen and a Tylenol AR. My usual temp. is about 97. I am assuming that with out the medication it would be higher.

I heard so much about infections of the TKR I am now wondering how to tell if it is a virus or infection starting in the TKR. The joint does not appear to be swollen. It does hurt but I think that was from over doing it lately so I am resting today. I don't have any other cuts or anything only one sore spot on my gum where I hit it wrong with the toothbrush two days ago.

Thanks for reading-- the worry wart : lakelover

We all experience those "worrywart" moments...don't feel bad about it!!

If you had an infection going on with your knee, the joint would be red and hot. And your fever would likely be higher. I think you are correct that you are just pushing a little too hard. Scale back and see if you feel better. But even though you scale back, be sure you continue with your pain meds.

And a question......are you having regular bowel movements? If not, that can make you feel miserable. With all the pain pills, stool softeners are a must to ensure things keep movin' right along.

yes, I am careful about that. Jamie, thanks for "listening". My husband is sick of hearing about my aches and pains and I sit here by myself all day and need to vent. Seems to be more so as this drags on. I new it would be a long haul but seems longer now that I am into it.

Thanks, and yes I am careful about that. My husband is sick of hearing about my aches and pains so I need to vent. I am backing off today and maybe tomorrow. Only did a couple stretches this AM -haven't even made the bed or unloaded the dishwasher. Hope this helps.

That's okay. When you find an error in your post, you can always click on the EDIT button in the lower right corner of each post, make your revisions and the SAVE it. No need to enter a whole new post.

Lake, everyone hits plateaus in their recovery. Just ride it out, keep doing your exercises, rest, ice, elevate and before you know it, you'll be on the upswing and have new milestones you've accomplished. We're here for you, hon!!!

This forum is the vent capitol of the world for TKRs and THRs!

You may just be achy from doing too much. That happens to me sometimes (even without TKR) and I take a couple of Advil or aspirin and go to bed and often I'm fine in the AM. But even though it is spring there are still some flu viruses going around (and I don't me swine flu). But most probably you don't have the flu since you're still relatively protected from crowd contact etc. My PT told me the usual problem he has is motivating patients to do the exercises on their own but with me he had to hold me back. And you sound much the same way. So just relax for a day or so and do your bending and stretching and lay off the strengthening stuff for a bit. Your body will probably be a lot happier :)

Hello Lake. Just checking on see how you were doing. I hope you are feeling better. Check with you later.......Kim

I am even worse today. I must have something flu-like. My stomach is so upset I have only eaten three pieces of toast since yesterday, fell very weak and a little achy. Hard to tell about a fever since I am on so much Tylenol AR. Thought I was going to vomit several times. I laid in bed until 9 AM this morning. I hope this will pass in a couple of days.

I will be forced to rest and do minimal exercises. I will let you all know what happens.

So sorry to hear you're still under the weather. Lake! Now is the time you have to build yourstrength back up! Drink LOTS of fluids! You DON'T want to be de-hydrated!!! :)

So sorry, Lake. It does sound like a flu virus. If you aren't better by tomorrow, you might want to get checked out by your doctor, though.

Lake, so sorry you're under the weather. It does sound like some sort of flu. There's been quite a lot of it down where I live recently. However, as I live on the other side of the 'pond' it probably isn't related!

I'm not a medical person, but the advice on drinking lots is what I would have suggested.

Hope you'll soon feel better. Keep us posted.

Thanks. I did call the clinic to see what they are saying about the flu. Have had several confirmed H1N1 in the state. The nurse said if I wasn't improved tomorrow I can come in to be tested--my choice. This started just 6 days after I went for my check up at a big regional center near here-lots of people all around. Of course I have been other places too. Will see tomorrow.

Lake, sorry that your not feel well, have you try some chichen soup? Amd lots of water or juice.

Nothing sounds good. No chicken soup in the house and I am here by myself. I tried a soft-boiled egg. It is not sitting too well. Other than that I am trying to drink water. This is bad.

Do you have any JUICE in the house? You need nutients! ANY soup?! Can you call a neighbor of friend to help you out? NOW is when you need some help!

It's only bad in that it worsens your constipation and for that I took lots of Fybrogel! I'd fasted for weeks before for the church. Never did me any harm. But had plenty of water and fruit juices to drink.

Well, my hubby is now getting the same bug. Don't think he is quite as bad though. He said a guy he works with had it and it took him 4 days to get over. I ate a little more this afternoon but this virus sure drags a person down. Looks like even more rest this week. And then having to deal with this knee get a little much. I think I am on the upswing though since supper went down OK even though I didn't feel hungry.

Thanks everyone for your concern and support. What a neat on-line family. Jean
