Just an update. I have been doing very well with my progress 3 weeks post op. My ROM has been 112 and 113 with a -4 from straight.
The problem I ran into on Tuesday after PT is my incisions have started to split! Yuk! Sorry for the graphic description, but it is like raw meat that needs to be put back together. I had Bob (dh) go buy me some steri-strips at the store and "stripped" myself back together. My PT came yesterday and I told her what happened and she told me to do no ROM exercises, just walking and balance until my incisions heal. She contacted the OS and the office called and reiterated no ROM and rest to allow healing. I see the OS Thursday for my 4 week check-up. Hopefully, the incisions will be healed by then, if not, I am sure the OS will most likely glue them......
Apparently healing is easier on the body from a tear rather than from a surgical straight cut. So, my job this weekend through Monday is to rest, walk, balance, and allow the incisions to heal. I was told I will not lose much ROM during this time. I previously had the OK to use the stationary bike and did make one revolution, hence the splitting. So, I am going to enjoy a weekend of rest and relaxation.

Best,
Crystal

Not too graphic for me!

It's more scary than dangerous. The skin of wounds can open up a bit and even get a bit pus-sy. But so long as you keep it covered with clean (preferably sterile) dressings, should be ok.

Ooh, bet that means no shower either, huh?

Take care of yourself! Eat healthy and give your body what it needs to heal.
