Hello all!
I have been absent from the forums for a while. I had a RTKR in 08/2008. I just found out yesterday that I'm facing a LTKR just as soon as I can manage to take the time off of work.
I'm a little stunned at the news. My left knee has started "going south" since my surgery. I was so thrilled to be up and about, walking, doing things I haven't been able to do for years, just generally feeling like a million bucks! But, now my left knee has started giving me pain. The pain is NOTHING like my right knee was pre-surgery, so I thought I had time. My general practitioner x-rayed it yesterday just to see where it was at, and he said if he set my two x-rays side by side (my pre-surgery right knee and my left knee now) he would be hard pressed to say which knee was actually in worse shape. :(
He was even reluctant to attempt a cortisone injection because as he said, "It would be a difficult stick, it's bone on bone in there with not much room for the needle." Yay. I'll see my surgeon for my yearly followup appointment and we'll be discussing cortisone until I can schedule surgery.
So, I'm back!
