No, I didn't go anywhere; what I meant is "I'm back to my old self!"

I'm a constuction guy who has been behind a desk for 20+ years, but have always kept my hand in the mix teaching speciality classes and doing stuff around the house and for friends and neighbors. Well that was up until a few years ago when my hip got so bad that it just wasn't worth the hand full of pain meds I would ahve to take just to even give it a try...

Well yesterday, with the help of a couple of 20-somthing nephews I borrowed just to move heavy furniture, I did some drywall repair and painted an entire master bedroom suite (BIG room w/ lots of detail). But the real news is, while the old body was a little stiff and sore last night, the hip was the least of my aches and pains - and not so much as even one tylenol passed my lips.

Getting this hip fixed was the best decision I ever made!

Great news, MudPro!!! I'm so happy you decided to post your success here so those considering surgery can see how great life can be. I know you are thrilled. Way to go!!! Now....will you come paint a few rooms in MY house??? LOL

Isn't it great Mudpro? As I was taking my 4 mile walk this a.m. up and down hills in my lake area, I was thinking the same thing. I have't taken so much as a tylenol for several months. Before my surgery I took ibuprophen almost every day. Am sure that was the cause of my stomach aches--to the point that I had all kinds of tests to make sure nothing was wrong (all negative thank goodness).

Anyway, enjoy your physical work--I am finding that simple things like cooking (now for Easter) and runniing up down stairs are "fun" again.

Melissa, look forward to hearing about all you can do as you continue to heal.

Happy Easter,

Laurie

Welcome back, Mud!! So happy to hear of your triumphs! Keep up the great work & Happy Easter!!! :)

That's wonderful. Isn't it great when you get the the place when you can make positive statements? Do you live near Kentucky? Good dry wall people are very hard to find in my neck of the woods.

I am so happy for you. I agree the hip replacement surgery is the best.
When My other hip goes a little further down the road, I will be happy to have it replaced

Sorry, Nana, I'm near DC in Annapolis, Maryland. But i do visit Louisville from time to time, LOL ;-)

It is very reassuring to hear this kind of comment. Sometimes you get caught up in the little daily things that you don't keep your eye on the prize. I am very much looking forward to getting back to normal...Thanks for sharing!
