I’m scheduled for Aug 19 total revision of left knee I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be here again. I had this TKR in 2012 now it’s loose, thankfully the right knee replacement is holding up. I had that one in 2014.

I’m so dreading it, I feel like I’m more scared since I know what I’ll be going thru afterwards. Haven’t lost any weight like I said I would to make it easier on me. But when you can hardly walk hard to do anything much for exercise.

Glad to be back on this forum misery loves company

@fmeneelyfm Welcome back to BoneSmart! Sorry you are heading for a revision. But if you are in pain, the op will certainly address that.

We will be here for you again!

Hi @fmeneelyfm I'm sorry to read you need to have a revision. This is for your let knee, done in 2012, is that correct?

I'm asking because, in your old thread, dated 2018, you said that your right knee, done in 2015, was loose. Did that turn out to be OK in the end?

Is the surgeon who did your original TKR also going to do the revision?

I had to have my knee replacement revised in 2011. I was scared, but it turned out not to be too bad after all. My recovery was no harder than my recovery from the original knee replacement.

Yes it is left knee that’s loose If I think back I may of had some clicking in right knee and I lose track of dates I think left knee was 2012 and maybe right knee was replaced in 2015 ? I know if 2018 was last time I saw Dr and he said i had loose part in left knee and wanted me to come back to keep getting it checked but $$$$$ so I have waiting until this June 2 to go back he was surprised I made it this long but it didn’t hurt this bad until like the last 6 months still I kept putting it off - till now ugh just can’t take the pain any longer

Thank you for clarifying which knee is the problem child now. It's only just over a month now before you have a new, shiny knee. I know the time will drag, but try to keep yourself busy.

Knee Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
rest
ice
take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)

3. Do what you want to do BUT
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.

4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these

5. Try to follow this

I hope my PT doesn’t push me like last time kept pushing my leg in the get the “bend” and had me hang my legs off of bed while I was on stomach well I won’t do it this time.
Fmeneelyfm,
Your PT can only push on you if you let them, recommend that you ask for another PT, if the person you see is too aggressive.
Saying no to therapy - am I allowed to?
