Hi everyone...

I had my colonoscopy and everything's fine, so I finally was able to schedule my MUA for Friday, June 6th. I'm having it done at 8:30 a.m. and will be staying overnight with "Intense PT". Geez, what a long road it's been.

I'm still scared, but mostly of the PT. I'm changing PT's to a more "Rigid" one. I don't really want to blame my other PT for my ROM, but you never know. She became a friend and I think she was afraid of hurting me. The other thing I'm afraid of is taking anti-inflamatories for the swelling & more pain meds. These are two things I have found to be the "Culprits" in my Diverticulitus attack several months ago which my Dr. wouldn't approve my pre-op for the MUA I had scheduled back in March until I had a colonoscopy. I hope this isn't going to be a vicious cycle like that!!!

My sister told me her PT said she's had several patients that have had the manipulation and when they come in their knee was 3x the normal size and then she says we have to try to bend it! Can you say PAIN!!! Even after that comment I decided I have to try to do something to get more ROM.

Thanks everyone for the support!

Laurie

Best of luck to you, Laurie. Most of the folks on the forum who have had a manipulation write that it helped them and I hope the same is true for you.

If it didn't help it would just be downright cruel to put people through it. Of course it will be swollen for a few days but plenty of ice and elevation will sort that out and just think of the progress you will make afterwards.

Thanks for the encouragement! I will write again after the MUA to let everyone know how it went.

hey Laurie, hope it goes well and you continue to "heal on".

You will do great, Laurie. I'm praying for you and pulling for you to have a huge increase in ROM as a result of the procedure. God bless!

Laurie, How long since your tkr? I can't remember. I'm having a MUA at the same time I have my second tkr on June 9th. I'm glad to hear the Diverticulitus is doing better. Good luck to you.

1jt@atime, my TKR was December 10, 2007. I was progressing with my ROM at the normal rate, then "Boom" hit a wall at 118. Then I could never get back to that 118 and in fact was regressing and having very painful PT, so my PT tried giving me a week off. It didn't help. Now I feel like I'm probably about 95-100.

Good luck with your TKR and manipulation!

Laurie
