If You Are Frustrated in PT- Read

Well, I went to PT and was in the Aquacisor (underwater treadmill, with jets) feels great in there. I think I want one for Xmas... it's only about $65,000 so I guess I need to start saving!

Now THAT sounds really neat! Gotta look around for one of those!

I read your first post and it was interesting that I was also on the stomach having the leg bent. My PT says he is trying to stretch the quads. I tried to do it at home as well using the leg lifter from the hospital as I can't exactly reach it myself. This is easier to do with a second person.

I also get hip pain on and off which PT thinks is trochantor bursitis.

We did get the left one to 125 today but I think it stole a few of the ROM from the right one which went back to 110 today. I have been really pushing it as I see the OS in a couple of weeks and he wanted 120 and started having swelling so it is back to the ice. I might try a pain pill or 2 as things are getting sorer. I have just been using aspirin for the last few months and PT has not been much of a problem.

I liked what my PT said on Monday when we had 123/111 and he said well that is 119.

Well onward we go.

Had our first snow yesterday, so I started the day with a bit of shoveling the snow.

Found this on the bursitis...My hip has been killing me for over a month...I've been alternating NASIDS and stretching. I'm trying to avoid a Dr.'s visit. If I see a nurse holding a plastic tube, I'll probably take off running.....bad catheter memories.

My PT gave me exercises to stretch and strength the hip muscles. I found this site which has all of them and some nice pictures. The other one is the fire hydrant which is to knell over a big exercise ball and bend your leg and lift it from the hip like a dog would when he is using a fire hydrant to relieve himself.

Seems this type of bursitis is common with hip and knee replacement.

Always something.

Good site, Simon - made a note of that for future reference. Thank you.

Doug -

Run quickly from any plastic tubing - I totally agree!

Simon - thanks for the info! I see my OS (well the back up guy who did the MUA) on Monday. We definitely need to discuss the whole hip thing. PT totally fried me on friday AM. We hit 120 on the toal gym but my hip is still killing me - and my lower back is no picnic either. I have downed enough of hydrocodone to kill a small elephant this weekend just to get out of bed. I tried the PT without flexirile and that was a major mistake. my muscles are way to tight to be doing what we have been doing without some kind of help to loosen them up. i have a refill left and am using it!

i had the steroid shot and it doesn't seemed to have done a whole bunch for the hip. I am wondering if he can just get in there and arthroscopically remove the stuff (calcification) that is in the way and that keeps the leg bone from fitting appropriately in the socket. (Genetic thing - or so he tells me!)

Looking forward to PT in the AM - Aiming for 121 - maybe 122 - since I will have the flexirile back on board - I will be relaxed and the PT can bend to his hearts content! Then off to the OS in the afternoon! hopefull all good news this time!! He should be happy with the knee - 100 with screaming before MUA 120 after withoug too much screaming :) Truly - it is no longer the knee that aches on the bend it is my ctinky hip!

Oh well - I think I have joined the "Multiple Joint Club!"

Better waddle ! Need to do lesson plans since I am out of the building tomorrow - and have an all day training on Tuesday - my poor kids - another round of substitutes! Yikes!

Enjoy the day! We have sun and 15 degrees! (And daylight - woo hoo! I love daylight savings time!)
