Star, I'm at 6 weeks in a couple days and I have been sleeping much better and actually in my bed!

I am at 19 weeks and i just started sleeping better in the last couple weeks (without any aids). I'm also almost off the hydrocodone, do maybe there is a relationship there. Plus I've been busy and I'm really ready for bed at like 8:30 pm! Been getting up before 6 am... so that makes sense. All I can really say is that sleep gets better over time, just like everything else.

Skeet, I'm so glad for you and your improved sleep. I do thing there is a relationship between the quality of sleep and long term pain med usage. It took me a while after getting off the Darvoset, but sleep is wonderful now. You'll be completely back to feeling normal real soon once you get off the pain meds. I think you'll be surprised at how great you can feel.

Thanks, Jamie, That's my hope. I just can't seem to get beyond about 3-4 days without a pain med. I'm working on using 1/2 the usual dosage now. It's slow and I'm impatient!

I was impatient too....not a particularly good character trait as it's what led me to just stop my meds cold turkey. You are doing it the right way and you won't have to endure the withdrawal that takes place with the sudden stop method. It sounds to me like you are doing it just right.

Thanks, Jamie. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm running low and will have to call my doctor this week for a refill, but since my last refill was 2-21 for #90, I hope he'll be compassionate and give me something, even if a lower dosage.

Skeet, I'm sure the hydrocodone was what was causing me to not sleep. I quit taking them several weeks ago and now I sleep with no problem. IF I have a bad day due to over working the knee or if it just decides to 'be a pain' and I take a hydro at night.........no sleep for me. If you can drop the hydro and use something else, betcha sleep.

Hydrocodone and sleep for me is like good news/bad news. If I take one and fall asleep
I sleep really well. (For 4 hours and then awake thirsty). If I don't fall asleep, I never fall asleep and toss and turn having wierd thoughts for four hours. And then am thirsty.

I called the doc today and asked for a refill for the hydrocodone but at a lesser dosage so I can finish weaning myself from them. I also told them I need something for the pain from PT or overdoing as tylenol or Alleve don't do it for me. I can't take ibuprofen due to having taken so much early on (kidney is borderline) and I'm allergic to sulfa drugs (& morphine) so most of the arthritis wonder drugs are out as they are mostly sulfa based. I'll find out on Thursday what he thinks. I'll keep you all posted.

Hey Jenn, that is so great you back in your own bed. Does that mean you can get to your other computer and post a photo of yourself now? Sue
