Ok, I overdid but I am also out 11 weeks tomorrow doing really good. I was going to try my DH's recumbent bike, someone told me it was too harsh and may present a 90 degree problem, but I wanted to try anyway. Good thing I stopped after just one attempted turn or I would have really messed up. I have learned many things during this recovery period and this time I learned don't be so stubborn, it can come and bite you on your posteria hip replacement LOL. Today I am a bit sore, yes after that one attempt so its ice ice ice. And I won't take my good days as a license to think I actually am bionic.

Marvsgirl.....a very wise person you are!!! YOU STOPPED!! You'll recover!! And just think how many "smarts" you've gained now. Slow, steady....slow, steady.....man, it's not very exciting sometimes but it most certainly works best.
Hang in there and here is a big Kansas (((((HUG)))) for you complete with

I've been right where you are. You start feeling good and are able to walk without pain and sometimes we push it a little too much. That's how I ended up with bursitis last week. Back off a little and slowly build up like these wise folks on this forum have suggested.

7 weeks post op. and I was back on pain meds last night after two long walks in one day up and down lovely (and steep) woodland hills. 'If other people can do stuff why can't I'? . . . . Because I can't. And I knew it. Guess I needed the reminder.

Yep - me too. Join the club, sweetheart!

If your available recumbent bike offers te ability for the back to recline, that opens up the angle of the hip so you can get the benefit of the exercise, without pushing the 90 degree limit...

Which offers the question, why are you still dealing with 90 degree restriction at 11 weeks?

I bought a recumbent bike and planted it right in the middle of my bedroom; it was (IS) a lifesaver for me.

I was on one today and felt pretty good. Did a 1/2 hour without a problem Only my second time at the gym (I over did it the first time 3 weeks ago and have been avoiding since I can't seem to behave there). I am 7 weeks post op. Should I not continue? I was going to go back on Thursday.

If you're coping with it, then carry on. The benchmark is - listen to your body!

Just blame my OS for being conservative when asked at 6 weeks about doing certain things he said give it 6 more weeks. I also have Anklosing Spondylitis, this may be a factor, as well I am 65, in other words I have no idea. Like I posted before in another thread, he is a wonderful dr, I have had great care, he just has the communication skills of a perch. I don't know anyone else who has had THR so I actually did not know what questions to ask about. If I ever need one on my right side I will know better.

Hugs to All

My OS said I should be able to get on a stationary bike at 6 weeks. He said I could probably get on a real bike after 3 months but only around the neighborhood. I'll be happy with any of that! I've already got a bike on order (got fitted for one before my surgery) and am going to buy a trainer so I can use it as a stationary bike in my house. Can't wait to get started.
