Well, you could aim at achieving that by around week 4 but no sooner! You need to allow your wound to do most of its healing first, also your body to recover from the surgery and the anaesthetic. There's no rush so don't fret about not being up and doing just yet. Your healing and recovery is much more important and you'll soon catch up. Remember, it wasn't the hare that won the race! :hehe:

thanks for the support josephine.it feels like groundhog day here start the day feeling weak feel better during the day wake up repeat!!!:shk:

Hey, Ron!! You made it, huh? :sct: Just kidding....GREAT to hear how well you are doing.:thmb:
I gotta agree with everybody else....TAKE IT EASY!! 'Job 1' is to be healing right now! I over-did it a few times... and it DID set me back another day or three. 'No Pain, No Gain' is REALLY dumb..... Excersise and 'No Pain' means you are doing it right!
And Hey, 'loghaula'...Glad to hear you are doing great also!!
Welcome to the 'Other Side' to you both!
Oh, yeah...that Tortoise wins the race everytime I read the story too!:hehe:

ron i'm so glad you are doing so well. take the meds and take it easy cant really think of anything that wasnt already said. do what feels good then stop and let yourself be pampered. me trying to do gymnastics in my sleep usually got to me. i wasnt hurting so i'd try to move and get into a usual position. ouch. the mornings were usually the roughest part of the day.

hi peeps i survived now onto rehab!!!! wasnt so bad
An update im onto day 8 walking about a mile and a half a day in total 4 walks.Im sticking to the tylenol for now might go to pain killers when i start outside pt.Worse part by far is no sleeping and the 90 degree rule!!

Hey Ron The sleeping will get better with time. You seem to be doing well.....Im happy for you...Just be careful your right...lol...Happy walking..:)

Ron,

Sounds like you're doing great! I didn't sleep very well early on so I would take a couple of naps a day.

Keep up the good work.

Diane

Question for board is not sleeping on operated side because of the scar or the 90 degree rule???.In other words do i have to wait 6 weeks??

I think its also for healing! They don't want you putting any extra pressure on that side! Add more pillows!!! :)

Wow Ron, you sure are an inspiration! I am waiting for the call to say when my surgery is scheduled! I am scared to death...but after reading how well you are doing and all the supportive comments on this sight...well..its kinda calming! Good luck to you!

Ron, I'm just getting back on the forum after a vacation, but so glad to hear you're doing so well in recovery!!! Way to go! But do be careful not to push too hard. You'll know it if you do and then it will be time to pull back a little.

Day 10 !! im trying to pace myself because im realizing i cant fit 4 months into one week.Indeed slow and steady probably wins the race in this case.So im just going to break it down into milestones.Such as going caneless driving going to outside pt etc.Just some general observations for those whose surgery is yet to come.Have not had a second of hip pain since op.I am having some swelling that seems to be taking a path down my leg now in my calves area.I assume going to my ankles soon.Sleep has not been my friends Naps are!!.Take the time as an investment in yourself!!!

Ron......what are we having for lunch???:sct:
Hope you're having a good day!!:thmb:

Are you taking time each day to elevate your legs, Ron? Like this

[Bonesmart.org] I survived! Now in rehab ...

That will help enormously with the swelling.

Thats a well comfy looking cushion Jo - could do with one of those.

Ron, you are doing great - try not to overdo things tho - lots of little steps make up one great big one - all positive stuff.
