Not very far, but I did.

I went to my son's track meet this afternoon and on the way back to the truck, I said, "bet ya I can beat you to the truck?" and before he could wipe the shocked look off of his face, I had two steps on him...

The rotten brat beat me, but not by much! :D

One year ago I couldn't hardly walk 100 feet without a whole lot of pain, let alone race my 12 year old son 70 yards.

Mud, you really mean you RAN, ?? For real. My son would so be happy if I told him you ran with a replacement ran. That is so amazing I cant wait to tell him.....Really you made my night!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thats is so wonderful.

YAY Mud!!! SO happy for you! Just take it easy now!!!! :)!

Hey well done you, bet that really surprised your son - now don't go signing up for any marathons just yet though....

I hadn't actually "ran" in many years, so I didn't push myself too hard. But to be honest, I even surprised myself...

It was WONDERFUL to feel "normal" again and do something like that on the spur of the moment with my son. But no, you won't see me in the Boston Marathon any time soon. :p

I understand no marathons but he was excited just to know everything will be good soon....He asks me all the time. When will it all go away. I dont have that answer but atleast he saw in black and white things will get better..I dont know that I would run, didnt do much before. But since you took such a large step he was very happy...thank you

Mudpro, I ran last week too. It was a moment of great joy and I'm thrilled to share that moment with you too....How great it is to just do normal stuff, run, jump, climb....I sound like I'm discovering my childhood again!
Keep up the great work Mud, its such a great feeling just living life....

Yay Mud. I have run a few times just to seee how it feels, it does feel great and totally normal. Good for you
judy:thmb:

Hooray, Mud! That'lll show the young wippersnapper!!! There's still some sparks left in the ol' Dad yet!! Bet that was really fun for you both.

Wonder what exactly a "whippersnapper" is anyway......sounds like Geezer-speak, doesn't it!

Congrats Mud--Last week, i went into the back yard with the dog and actually tried to run. I made it about 50 feet to the shed. It felt OK, better than in the last 8 hears or so, but still not exactly good. The next day, even though I took time off from working out, I came up lame in the a.m. Not sure if it was from the shock of running, but I'm not sure it wasn't either. So I decided to take a few more days off from working out.
Nice to hear and think that it will continue to improve.

TBone, I'm not advocating anyone should run mind you, that was my first serious attempt and I am about 5 months further along in the healing process.

I was very anxious 5 - 6 months ago to "get back to normal" and I'm still not there completely. But I can tell my body is still healing, slowly but it seems assuredly. Now at about 8 1/2 months, I feel just a tiny bit more normal every day.

Thanks everyone, it did feel great, more emotionally than physically, especially when I saw the smile on my son's face as he turned to look at me just before we got to the truck... He is growing up fast, and we won't have too many more of these kind of moments.
