Hi Everyone,

I got home yesterday and you were all right the waiting before the op was the worst bit. I had a Spinal and went to sleep in the end and dont remember a thing. The morphine was really good stuff for the first night but made me terribly sick the day after I was like the girl out of the exorcist:hehe: it was all over the place.

I doing ok my knee will bend to 95 Im just so frustrated I cant do anything in the house. I find the exercises I have to do so hard and my leg feels so heavy., it is still quite swollen so Im doing a lot of icing and keeping it up.

Love Karen xx

Welcome home Karen, Glad to hear all went well and you sound like you are on your way to a great recovery. 95 already, (I am sooooooooo jealous).
Rest and ice all day long, your leg will have days when you feel like you are lugging a melon around in your knee, I still have days like that, nearly 7 weeks on, but it will improve as your leg gets stronger. Remember dont skip your pain meds, even if you feel you dont need them, and dont try to do too much, too soon, the housework will still be there in a few weeks time, lol.
Have a great day. Keep posting and let us know how you go. XXX

Hi Karen, Glad to hear you are back home and doing well. I'm getting ready for mine on Monday. I will speak to you on the other side. I hope to have a similar surgery experience as you did, no events and no drama. I'm 4 days out and the waiting is killing me. Wish I had not waited so long, but because of work, I needed to catch Thanksgiving and Christmas as part of my recovery. I get an additional 3 weeks where no one will miss me. Be well and safe. Bob

Welcome to the side of scars and ROM! So glad that it sounds like you are doing great! Well, except for that Exorcist moment, LOL.
Keep up the great work and the ice.

Sorry to hear about your Exorcist moment - but glad you are on this side! Take it easy, ice and meds will be your best friends for a while! Your leg will begin to obey better soon - just keep trying!

How true! I should have bought stock in an ice company before my TKR. I couldn't keep enough in my freezer so I bought it by the bag!

Karen - rest, relax, ice, elevate, watch TV and sleep! That's your prescription for the next 2-3 weeks!

Karen,
So glad that you are now Home. There is no place like home. I am glad I missed the head spin and cookie tossing. Sorry though that you didn't miss it.
Now it is PT, Rest, Ice, Rest, Elevate and Rest!!!!!

Karen,

You have a sister in sickness here. The morphine always makes me yak too. Everyone is right. Hang in there and keep on icing. It will seem like recovery takes forever, but it really doesn't. You have all of us here cheering you on! GO you!

Karen...welcome home!!! It's a great feeling isn't it? Make sure you get plenty of rest and like every one has said...ice ice and then ice again and elevate!

I agree, Karen...with one addition...take your pain meds consistently on schedule. You may not feel pain at the moment, but it is there lurking. You want to stay ahead of it.

As the pain and swelling go away, you'll be able to do more. My goodness, girl...YOU JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY!!! What are you thinking that you need to do things around the house??!!!!:shk: No, no, no!!!! Go back to Momma Hen Jo's prescription and repeat to yourself!

Yippee, Karen!!! Let the recup begin!!! It gets better every day! Welcome to the other side! (:)0)

Thanks everyone I'm doing as I'm told Rest Icing and Elavating and sleeping like mad.

I'm really struggling with the exercises though.

Love Karen xx

Good job Karen! Now just keep at it. When is your next appointment with your OS?

Hi Karen, Sounds like everything is proceeding normally. I know you think you came to earth with powers and abilities from beyond those of mortal women, but as I see it, you're only human. Give yourself a break. Take the time now, you have earned it. Karen, make sure that you keep this post, so when I start whining about my impatience with the process, you can remind me of the words of wisdom I once shared. Monday is now hours away, I will be with you on the other soon. Be well and safe. Bob

Hope you are doing good Karen, dont worry I too struggled with the exercises, I despise heel slides, so I use the bottom stair instead to push the bend. And no matter how much you try, for a while you can not lift that heel off the ground, your brain is telling you this is stupid, but no matter how hard I tried it would not lift. It does eventually, in its own time.
Have a great weekend. X
