Went to church this morning! It was so good to get out. I made sure I took a full dose of my pain meds , so I was a little drowsy thru the service but after when I assured my pastor I wasn't falling asleep on his message he said it was OK, I get a pass. Funny thing, the sermon was on walking with God. It was good to see everyone and have a change of scenery. Problem was people wanted to stop and say hello and talk, see how I was doing, but between the dizzying narcotics and still healing knees, i needed to focus on walking, sitting & resting. All in all, it was good. Now I'm not so worried about going out tomorrow for my 1st OP PT.

Good for you Jen! It is good to get out as long as you don't overdo it. Pace yourself and then let yourself rest when you get home. Cabin fever can make you do crazy things so getting out in a safe, sane way is a good preventative measure. And going to church must have been a great spiritual boost for you too.

Blessings.

Good for you, Jen. It is great to get out and get some fresh air and a change of scenery. You'll do great at PT. This is just the start of the next phase for you. There is so much for you to look forward to! Letus know how the PT appt. goes. I'm sure you'll be their best patient!! Have a great week walking with God.

God bless,
Skeet

It absolutely was. Then I came right home and took my next dose of pills and got my feet right up in my recliner. I'm done for the day exceot the usual up and around every hour or so. And probably my legs lifts and stretches...

OP PT is great--do not be afraid. It was a tremendou experience for me and my ROm and strength improved dramatically. When I had my last OP PT, I bought them pizzas because of what they did to help me. The atmsophere was much, much different thatn the at-home PT, which I dreaded at times.

I agree Ref. I really miss my PT, so I'm going to go by and say hey this week. Take them one of Josephine's flyers, too.

You sound better today skeet, Hubby home yet? Sun is shining here, that always helps. I am going to the same place and same guy I went to before surgery for PT, so that helps alot going to a familiar environment where we are all already friends. And obviously they did something right in helping me get ready for the surgery because I have progressed so much already.

Thanks Jim, sure hope I didn't over do it. I'll let you know tomorrow. Have a Good day!

Went out again yesterday. Also church on wed. Nite. But yesterday was a big day of adventure. First went to Quest for post-op follow up bloodwork. and then stopped at Walgreens. I learned from you guys, walmart too big for 1st outing. Ha dtoo fight happy tears again. So nice to walk around without so much pain. Who would have thought walking was such a joy! Ofcourse I came home and slept for an hour straight. Later that afternoon I had to go back out for PT and dr office for script pick-up. And at PT we walked on my gait. The knees bend great but the brain still says stiff legs, so I walked many circles around the room. Got better but got my work out too. Came home around dinner time and we decided on chinese. My hubby thought it might be nice to go to an all you can eat buffet. I said I was OK to go out but buffet meant up & down. That would have been too much. We got a move and take home chinese, and both fell asleep watching it. I can almost taste normal life. Now i am starting to get really glad I did this. Before I knew in my head it was the right thing, but now I'm feeling it. I'm gonna get my life back! moderation will be my trick. It's a little discouraging when the body can't keep up with the brain. In time.

Congratulations Jen! Isn't that just the *best* feeling? I can totally remember and identify with that!
Bottle up your feeling from this day and leave it someplace where you can open it and take a whiff to get you through the rough days. Finding the balance between doing enough to make progress but not so much that you have overdone it is a very fine line.
Here's wishing you a lifetime of good days!

Don't you just feel FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE after being couped up so long? I remember the feeling SO well. Congratulations Jen! You're getting there!

The feeling was reminiscent of being 16 and having my license to drive.

just got back from my now daily walk, (more happy tears), a little further everyday. I told my girlfriend around the block that after my surgery one day I was going to be knocking on her door to go for a walk. She better get hers shoes on! I saw this little bright red bug walking across the road. Have no idea what is was but I know I appreciate that I could see it. My husband went with me. At one point he said "OK let's go back". That's a first in a long time, him quit before me!

Congratulations, Jen!!! You are doing so great with your walks. It's good to get the hubbie to go too. Healthy for both of you. I want to try that for us also. Heaven knows we NEED the exercise!!!

Great job Jen! I just loved that feeling!

My temptation is to go too far and then you have to get back! I have a great greenway park in my neighborhood that I took some of my early walks on. Had my honey worried. He made me take my cell phone with me so I could call if I got too far out to get back. He was worried about the greenway tho...no golf cart to come and get me with!

Now I am feeling guilty that I haven't been out walking. We live in the sticks and there are lots of roads to walk around here, most without any cars. The dogs would enjoy it, but I cannot take all three by myself. I can barely handle one! Okay... as soon as it stops raining... but today is for the jayhawks. Too bad our Bruins are taking a beating thus far against Memphis.

Well you be careful if you walk by yourself..carry a friend with you.

I will... still wanting that S&W 642.... someday. Until then I take a big kid or my hubby or one of the black labs. I know I cannot outrun anyone anymore... so...
