I get to move to the "AFTER" forum now!!! Well, surgery is over - BOTH of them. Yesterday they tried to remove the drains and one broke off - so off to the OR again for me. At least I still had an IV in, so no more needles for me! I've been up and walking - went for a trip down the hall this morning. It's not as bad as I thought it would be - my OS uses an immobilizer (that drives me nuts!) So I'm sitting up as much as possible since he wants that thing on when I'm laying down. Just thought I would check in!

Great to hear from you, so pleased you are doing so well. Now, NO sprinting up and down them corridors, take it easy, rest and recover. Best Wishes, Dawnie. XX

So glad it's over for you and hope you have a speedy recovery.

I go nuts just sitting - my oldest daughter left her laptop for me - thank goodnes for wifi in the hospital!!!!

Hey Beach!!!
So great to hear from you!!! having a laptop with you sure helps to make it not so bad to be stuck in a hospital far from home. Mine kept me sane!!! LOL Other wise I would have been driving them crazy to go home the first time. Now remember to go slow ok?

Good to hear that you can get online in the hospital. We're still denied that in the UK. But great to hear how well you've been doing. Keep posting!

Welcome to recovery! I hope you are cruising right along! Sorry about the drain problem.
It is great that you feel good enough to surf the net and talk to us.

Take it easy, Kimberly

Thank you for posting so soon after your TKR. I have been waiting to see how you did with yours. Everytime I hear someone talk about having a successful one it gives me more nerve to get mine done. I need both of them replaced but haven't given in to it yet. I'm trying though.
Best wishes to you beachbum, and I love the beach too. I hope you enjoy your new knee for a longtime to come. Take care.

No one is sure how the drain got stuck - one came out easy - just slid right out, the other was just not coming. OS did some little tugs and most of it came out, he wasn't sure if it was all out so I went down to x-ray. Sure enough, there was a piece left in so off we went to the OR again. Tuesday I had a spinal and don't remember anything after leaning on the anesthesiologist (who was really cute!!!!). Wed. was easy, they just put something into the IV that I still have. I had a femoral block - a great thing - they just took that out this afternoon. I also had a drip - not sure what kind but it helped. I've been taking percocet (or however you spell it) but it's beginning to give me a migraine, so I'm switching to Loritabs. The worst part was waiting .... waiting.... waiting.... I hate waiting! Once things started happening it went really quickly - I was out before I knew it. Came to wrapped in nice warm blankets. Nurses and techs have been great - joked in the OR - my 'happy place' would be on a deck of a ship with a big margarita in my hand. One of the techs brought me some margarita candy today!!! PT and OT have been here, I've been walking down the hallway and climbing up stairs. It's actually easier than I thought it would be!
Hope this helps you as you head on your journey, my little mishap was a strange blip - just one of those things - but easily fixed.
Good luck, let us know how you are doing soon....

Congrats on making it to this point! Wow on posting so soon, all I wanted to do was sleep! Now just rest and let your body catch up to your mind lol!
Happy recovery!
Gale

Amazing recovery story. Thanks for sharing all the details. I'm sure it will help many to overcome their fears, even when strange things happen like the drain breaking off.

Hope recovery continues to go well for you. Take it easy and get some rest. You will need it for pt.

Blessings,

It's great that you're done! I can't believe you could think and write so well....I don't think I could have written anything on the computer that soon. Sounds like Terri (abunnybabe) is cramming for her big test! lol

What about drains? Do most people have them? I don't think I did, but I had a partial.
