Hi folks,
For the first time in about 100 years I DONT LIMP!....:thmb:.I walk straight, I stride out and walk tall, without the slight bend at the waist and the sideways lurch. Its official 7 months after THR I no longer limp, I no longer use my kids as a walking stick, I no longer take pain relief (actually I haven't since about week 2) . I no longer use stupid hip syndrome as the reason for not doing something (I have to find an alternative excuse!) I
I do revert back if I'm tired, and if I run its really weird.....I actually have to tell myself how to run straight as i haven't done it in years.
The only significant hassle is that I still don't have enough bend (I doubt i'll get it!) so I can't do up my shoe laces or cut my toenails (GGGGRRRRR) and
I find that i still find a pillow between my knees more comfortable than without it.....
.
But the most exciting part from my point of view is that I don't limp....:wahey:.I just look and feel normal....actually I lie, i feel more important special and capable than normal. Now I just have to work on the arm and shoulder muscles etc.
Talking of which my physio said to me the other day that I am no longer "BUTT-LESS!!!!!! Its not big, but it is there!:hehe:
Does anyone know what the difference between bone weight and prosthesis weight is? How much of the extra 6 kgs I'm carrying can I blame on the surgeon???
i hope all are doing well,
Rachel
