Hi folks,
For the first time in about 100 years I DONT LIMP!....:thmb:.I walk straight, I stride out and walk tall, without the slight bend at the waist and the sideways lurch. Its official 7 months after THR I no longer limp, I no longer use my kids as a walking stick, I no longer take pain relief (actually I haven't since about week 2) . I no longer use stupid hip syndrome as the reason for not doing something (I have to find an alternative excuse!) I
I do revert back if I'm tired, and if I run its really weird.....I actually have to tell myself how to run straight as i haven't done it in years.

The only significant hassle is that I still don't have enough bend (I doubt i'll get it!) so I can't do up my shoe laces or cut my toenails:hissy::hissy: (GGGGRRRRR) and
I find that i still find a pillow between my knees more comfortable than without it.....
.
But the most exciting part from my point of view is that I don't limp....:wahey:.I just look and feel normal....actually I lie, i feel more important special and capable than normal. Now I just have to work on the arm and shoulder muscles etc.

Talking of which my physio said to me the other day that I am no longer "BUTT-LESS!!!!!! Its not big, but it is there!:hehe:
Does anyone know what the difference between bone weight and prosthesis weight is? How much of the extra 6 kgs I'm carrying can I blame on the surgeon???

i hope all are doing well,
Rachel

Jo, do you know how to find my "goals" that I posted back in about March or February or so? I've looked but I can't find them....
R

That's great Rachel!!! You go girl!

I thought I stopped limping; it felt like I was walking straight anyway, but then I saw myself walking on video, and I was definitely stilll limping without realizing it.
For some reason I limp after sitting too long. But I don't think I am limping when I go for long walks, it feels like walking straight.
I am going to lose more weight and see if that helps.
I always look for my knee pillow when I go to bed.....I will keep that habit.....its good for spine alignment too.

Rachel....how great to hear from you again!!! I've missed you on the forum. I'm happy to hear you are limp-free. I think the rest will come along in time. I'm so proud of you for all you have accomplished. Hope to hear more from you and be sure to come 'round for the New Year's Eve party!!

Hey Rach! Zso noce to hear from you! Even better to hear you're limp free!! Aint it the BEST!!! ((;0)

This one? goals and motivation

"ask and ye shall receive"!!!

Wow! What a blast from the past Jo!

A year ago, I said: "I have to give it some thought and outline my new goals. Right now, it would be like heaven to just be able to walk across a room without shocking pain. I can't even think any further advanced than that yet.....but maybe I should dare to dream too!"

And dreams really do come true!!!! :wahey:

Cool, HOP!!! That IS exciting!!!

Roo, sounds like a perfect recovery down under. You might one day need an excuse, so don't be too hasty throwing hip syndrome under the bus. Your kids must enjoy their new life too ... walking sticks :)

Well done Kangaroo, it must feel great. I am one year out and can tie my shoelaces and cut my toenails no problem. It will come!
