I am 8 weeks post op feeling great, but today I both scared and surprised myself. My neice was getting a jug of juice out of the fridge when the second shelf started to fall with everything on it I squated down and got the things off fixed the shelf put the things away then stood up in disbelief that I had actually squated quite low and had no pain. I am amazing myself with my recovery, I never thought I would be able to squat so soon but I did and did it again for my hubby. Yeah getting my life back cannot wait to start my long 3 mile walks can do 1/2 mile right now so looking forward to the nice calming long walks.

Congrats and thank you for the inspiration. I want to squat like that!

Great news Misscheer! As the others said that is an inspiration!
I have not squatted in years. It will probably shock me to death if and when I do that!!!

That's fantastic. There are more of those little surprises in store for all of you...just wait.

Congrats! I think the little things people take for granted that we have not been able to do for so long are wonderful. I know just what you felt and know I will have several more things that I do on this journey that give me the same wonderful feeling of accomplishment. I am truly happy for you and all the rest of us. Each time one of us has a victory we all share in that victory. God bless. Rowdy

Some of our best confidence builders are mistakes that we either
are thrown into or do without thinking. Squatting is certainly one
of them. I remember about 3 months postop I was playing around
on a windsurfing board (I'm not very good) and I fell off the board
backward in about 3 feet of water. Instinctively I stuck out a leg
(happened to be my TKR leg) and put all my weight on it from 3 feet
and I thought "Oh s**t I really did it this time". I took stock and there
was no ill effect. Suddenly I knew it could take a lot more than I
was giving it credit for.

Congratulations on squatting.

Congratulations! Who knew squatting would be such a thrill, huh? But one that everyone here can understand. That's the beauty of this forum.

I have incorporated squatting into my daily hot tub soak. I slide off the bench and hold the squat for 30 seconds or more several times to keep stretching my flex. I also stand up and sit back down multiple times using the lowest bench in my hot tub. It's not my favorite thing to do but I think the hot water helps and I know I am getting stronger all the time.

Edk, can you still feel the "mechanics" if the prostetic moving inside or does it feel like every other joint in you body, no sensation, just moves?

Congrats. I'm 9 weeks out today. It amazes me that it seems like yesterday that I was in the hospital. In my case I did not have pain issues, I elected to have my rt knee replaced due to lack of stability from a poor ACL repair in 1970.
I made a decision to leave medical industry and I am re-entering teaching after 33 years. The days are long and I get tired and limp at the end of the day but it is getting better each day. My ROM is almost equal to my pre-ops. Still working with PT but the end is in sight. At 6 ft 4 inches, the extension still has a couple of degrees to go. My bending was 125 pre-op and I could do 122 on the last measure. I plan on taking my stretching rope to class and demonstrate the concepts to my Medical Science I and II students.

Good luck, Tom

That is fantastic! I remember the first time post-op when I got up from a chair and suddenly realized it was the first time in YEARS I had not pushed off with my arms. Yipee!

I can still feel the clunk if I try to. I don't notice it as much but I can't
tell if it is lessening as the knee gets stronger or I am just so used to
it now. Tends to be most noticable walking uphill or doing the eliptical
machine backwards.
