@Newhip_Pol Thank you!
@lanstan Thanks! I was right around the corner from their Skilled Nursing Unit that I just got out of 3 weeks ago and waved at a couple of the techs!

I love when the younger occupational therapists who haven't met me yet and didn't read my whole history, come by ready to teach me what I need to know but today I was being discharged and had no patience. I told one young woman she will make an excellent occupational therapist, but I've had a year to perfect pulling on my socks, sitting up and down and yes I have all the necessary paraphernalia.....so....time to move on, lol. I had another tell me her parents lived in Houston right down the street from Beyonce in an upscale neighborhood, which is why she and all her siblings had good jobs. Huh? I said all I've seen of Houston is its slimy truck stops and oil refineries. We couldn't connect, but she was sweet and worked very hard so she gets an A+

They were all fighting with me that I had to do PT. The new ones can't believe healthcare workers won't visit my town and anyway, I can already lift my leg up in all directions. My ortho sent down the order of NO PT, walking only and that got them off my back.
The hospital physician doing rounds remembered me from my recent stint in ICU, and took a step back. Lol. When he asked how I was doing I talked about femurs and acetabulum. He threw his arms out to his side and said 'I am just a medical doctor, not an ortho!' I answered 'I am just a truck driver!' which actually brought a smile to his face! 20230122_151451.jpg Me in the ER, dilaudid kicking in, lol.

Love the beret, @danelady ! That's the spirit! So glad you're home and have no PT instructions. I thought of you a lot yesterday, hoping for the best. Now for the healing. Rest, ice, read, elevate, pet your pup, and binge your favorite shows! :egypdance:

Good to hear you're home! Hopefully you're able to keep the pain well managed so you can get lots of rest. You've been through so much over the past year it's going to take quite awhile for you to heal. I pray you have the patience you'll need.

So happy to hear you’re home and back on the Mending Trail again. This time I hope you are able to complete the journey. I love your surgeon….fungicide….have to admit that’s a new one on me. At least you know you won’t get Jungle Rot in the coming weeks…..:rotfl:

Thanks for the x-rays too. Your femoral implant looks really straight and good, so I’m hoping this is the thing you’ve been needing to keep your hip stable. Time will tell, but I know you’ll be gentle with it and give it the healing time it needs. Hang in there. Oh, and I LOVE the hot pink beret. Hot pink is my favorite color.

Thank you for all the good vibes! I used to wear all black when working ( grease didn't show up, lol) but it was late October 2014 when it hit me like a ton of bricks....I was about to turn SIXTY YEARS OLD! After years of abusing my body on motorcycles I naturally assumed I'd be long gone by 60. I decided
to bring some color into my life and I chose pink! 20230128_141644.jpg

I hear you cheering me on, but I can't muster one single smile this time around. I am in as much pain as when this all started....hurts even more actually and I am not a happy camper. The first revision failed and it took months of dragging myself around on the walker till the custom built socket arrived and was installed, but at least I could stand up and put my entire weight on my left hip without feeling a bit of pain. Right now, if I have to get up and use the rest room and mistakenly put weight on it, my friends/neighbors know I'm still alive and on the move. It doesn't feel like an improvement at all, more like a major setback. OS even called to see how I was doing. NOT GOOD!

And I'm sick of these other drs hovering nearby, drawing me into their clutches.
'Let's schedule you for _____ test.'
'We want to check this/that/the other thing soon and see if it's the same as before.'

Do they not see the look of utter despair on my face as they make their demands? Can't we just finish this one very important thing first? I'm tired of being a body on a conveyor belt with no hope of ever getting off. Thought I'd show you how the acetabulum jumped
the ring and dislocated 20230128_010718.jpg

Ugh boy, that picture! It hurts to look at it!

I am so sorry, daneleady, this has been such a long haul for you. Honestly, I think its admirable your spirits have been as high as they've been through all of this. You're bound to have some down days, but please don't lose hope. I do believe you will have a return to a new / normal without the pain and setbacks. I only hope you have the patience to endure a slow, but thorough recovery, giving yourself the TLC your body so desperately needs and deserves.

You've been through a lot both physically and emotionally and while its not over yet, I do believe brighter days are in your future. Take great care to do this right and without any more unfortunate incidents, you may have a wonderful Summer 2023. It probably sounds far off, but I really hope you can take it slow and easy, allowing your body to fully recover from all of the trauma you've endured over the past year. I am sorry you're in pain and hope that you will notify your surgeon if you feel you could use an adjustment with meds.

I like the pink accessories. How fun! The color suits you.
Hang in there and don't hesitate to stop by when you need some cheering up and we'll do our best. You have many here that care about you and are following your journey. I hope your night is a peaceful one. :loveshwr:

Hang in there @danelady....I agree you need a mental break from tests, etc. It's OK to tell the DRs that. Just focus on laying in bed and binge watching some tv shows. Make sure they get you on something for the pain, as pain takes a real toll on our mental state, it's exhausting. I head in Tuesday to the OR...and may end up with a locking device as well. I truly thought they were supposed to be very difficult to dislocate. UGH, you proved that theory wrong.

And hey, it's OK to be a bit angry right now...you have been through a lot. Is your dog home with you? Nothing as good as a little dog therapy. Also one year that I had multiple surgeries my PC put me on a short series of Prozac / anti-depressant to get me back on my feet, as like you I had been through the ringer. It did help, don't hesitate to ask for something extra medication wise to get your through this.

Take care! Sharing my x-ray with you....
