One thing that no one has mentioned is being hungry. I don't know if it is because my body is healing, or because I am bored, or because I like to eat but I just feel so hungry. I'm kind of trying to whatch what I eat and be healthy but all I can think about is snacking and, to tell you the truth, fruit doesn't cut it! Anyone else feel this way?

How far out from surgery are you? It took me weeks to get my appetite back. But at this moment I am starved too because it is 6 p.m.!!! lol

I was told once buy a doctor that pain meds like hydrocondon makes you crave sweets
and it sure what happened to me when i started to go on pain meds for a long period of time i gained alot of weight and never had a sweet tooth until I was on Maintaince Pain Meds.

Don't deprive yourself.......EAT!!! There are LOTS of things you can munch on and 100 calorie sncks cut the edge! I find that thinking about it makes it worse! Just don't go overboard placing stress on your wonderful new joint! (:)0)

Hi I have been a little more hungry since surgery--I expected to be LESS hungry. I eat VERY healthy--however in the last couple weeks I crave ice cream--and have a bowl of "light" ice cream each day. This is funny to my hubby---I almost NEVER eat ice cream usually. Go figure. He calls it my new "addiction"!!! Of course he now has some too!!! Nancy

I got the munchies as well. I was border when I worked around, it got better. Lite lil snacks....Good Luck I dont know how far out you are !!!!!!!!!.......)

Kim and some others ate a lot of ice cream, I did not want any meat for over a month. I was not hungry at first but later all the time. Now settling down (I hope)

I didn't have a big appetite for the first couple of months. Found out by Vit D was very low and started supplements plus Centrum Silver and starting drinking too many diet pepsi's and now I need something to knock my appetite. Gees..

I guess the hunger thing is kinda normal. I blame almost everything on the anesthesia because I still can't concentrate as well as I used to. It's nice to know that some people are going through the same thing.

I lost 11 pounds the first 7 weeks. I need to lose more than that for sure, but I knew it's not good to lose weight when your body is trying to heal itself. Those pain pills really killed my appetite, especially between weeks 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 when I got anxious and depressed. Now I'm so hungry much of the time. But, it was no fun having to force myself to eat, so I'll just try to eat healthy and enjoy every bite. (That means I can't even have ice cream in the house or I'll go for that every time.)

I had no appetite at all for the first few weeks. In fact, had it not been for my brother and sil staying and putting food in front of me, I doubt I'd have eaten anything! Once they left, I did just that! I fancied nothing, not fruit or chocolate, nothing! So lucky you!
