Hi folks posted before at 6 weeks about not sleeping. Now 8 weeks post op and some thing strange has happeded. I know this was a HUGE operation for me and I was starting to get worried about the smallest things. My ankle started swelling and I could not sleep and when I read about how much physiotherapy other people had I was getting very paranoid.

On Sunday I had a strange accident, poked a twig in my eye and ended up at A&E. Any way my point it NOW I have realised that my ankle has gone down and I have spent so much time making sure I get my head in the right position so my eye did not hurt that I forgot about my TKR. I woke up and realised that I have slept through the night twice!!!!

It has taught me a valuable lesson that I should not look for problems with my knee and try to get on with life and that let the new knee get on with it!!!

YOu know what you are right. Sometimes it is our own fears and the unkown of what is going on in there that keeps us awake I think. Talking to everyone on this sight I know really helped me. Even when I don't sleep, I just pop on this sight and I feel better. Chat a bit, then go back to bed and all is good. Sometimes with my bag of frozen peas, but none the less much more relaxed.
It does do wonders to keep your mind on other things, although it would be great if they weren't other injuries. Hope your eye heals quickly without any problems. When I lay down now I am so exhausted because I am back to work I usually just pass out, but if I am awake I think of what a great walk on the beach I am going to have this summer!
Old James Taylor song that has the line "Sleep come Free Me" isn't that the truth?

Life is so much better when we start sleeping!!!!!!!!
Even my family has noticed a diffrence in me sine I have been sleeping.
Congratulations and have a good nights sleep!

I am finding that I have a melt down every evening around 6:30-7 pm. I have to lay down for a short nap of 30-60 minutes then I'm fine. I go to bed between 11:30 and 1 am and sleep until around 5 am when my hubby gets up, then back to sleep until around 9 am when the dogs want out. That works good, but next week when I return to work I have two 6 am teleconferences and I wonder how i will ever stay awake through them!!

I have a bizarre life - I help administrate the world's largest Christian forum and I also train new moderators (we have a staff of 200+). Now it will come as no surprise that the vast majority of our staff are American and I live in the UK which means I train anytime between 9pm and 3am! I am also often on the phone or instant messenger as late as 4am conferencing with other admins. I get up around 10am, spend an hour or so on here and then back onto the big forum. What fun!!

Anyone realise I am a serious forum-a-holic!!

Sleep is a good thing these days whatever time of day it comes. It makes life easier for others sometimes when it comes at night, but better to come during day than not at all. However, I do not recommend poking a stick into your eye to sleep.

Hi folks its Caz here!!!

Just a quick update on the eye, I can now see ok discharged from eye clinic today as they say its healing ok.

Next thing is to start thinking of a date to go back to work. Been off 8 weeks now but I can feel another 4 weeks sick is in order!!!!

I'm right there with you on the 4 more weeks Caz. I had called my boss last Friday and told them I was planning on coming in for half days this week, but after I found out what "aggressive therapy" is on Monday I had to call them back and say, "See you in March".

Josephine, I'm with you on bizarre hours. I work with folks in both Ireland and Singapore so we have teleconferences at whatever time is most convenient for the most people. Beats traveling all the time though.

Thanks for moderating this forum. I truly don't know how I'd have made it this far without you all. This has truly been a life line for me.

Caz, great to hear about your eye, sorry think I asked the wrong person earlier, anyway
glad to know you are better. As far as work, if we can take the time, I say take it.
Better to concentrate on getting to be the best we can be.
