I was released from the rehabilitation hospital yesterday and am now home. It feels great to be here. I had a follow-up visit with my OS yesterday as well and he is pleased with my progress.
I am having in-home nursing and physical therapy for the next couple of weeks. The nursing is to monitor my blood pressure and other vital signs after the complications I had after surgery.
I know I have a lot of work ahead of me but I am doing well and up to the challenge. My ROM is about 85 degrees in both knees and I am wallking quite well with a rollator. My plan is still to return to work on August 24th and I am hoping to be using a cane at that point so there is much work to be done to get me to that.
My first night home was pretty good and I am managing to get around my house fairly well. It is helpful that most of my house was set up well prior to the surgery due to other orthopedic issues I have had in the past. I have handicap ramps to get into my house and a chairlift to get upstairs.
I have to thank all of you for your support while I was going through everthing. I have come a long way from four weeks ago today when I had the surgery and stopped breathing needing to be resusitated. Here I am four weeks later feeling stronger every day and getting around my house on my own. I think my progress has been remarkable. My doctors and therapists have been wonderful and I have never worked harder on anything in my life but it is paying off.
