Revision THR Hope for 2020, Revised THR

At this point in time, I’m sure anything “normal” is worth a little payback later. It keeps us looking forward. So you’re forgiven for being human. :) It also helps us judge what we’re ready for and reassure us that we can actually do regular stuff again. You’ve been waiting a long time, Sarah. You’re keeping the dream alive! Keep going for it. XO ❤️ Pat

Hello Sarah,
Very often we don't know our limitations until we push it a little, or too much.
It's good to read you slept well and felt okay the day after your Target outing.
Sometimes you just need a change of scenery and to feel part of the world.
I'm happy you got out, even if it wasn't exactly what you planned.
Sending a hug and wishes for a great week!
@Fit4Family

Thank you for your encouraging words @Layla @Hip4life @VSlowLife @FCBayern

I have been building up my strength walking more every day. Still dealing with some swelling, so believe once that clears I will be ready for more outings. Smaller carts were easier last time, so next adventure will be somewhere smaller.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I find the smaller carts easier to use for walking as well. May have something to do with me being 5'2" ! :chuckmarch:
I was pleasantly surprised today at my local Wal-Mart to find they now have some smaller carts, it was a perfect size! Plus May be it will keep me from spending so much! :heehee:

Back from Post-op appointment.

We are both very impressed with my OS. Dr. William P. Peterson. He has a very bright future to be sure. I would recommend him to anyone seeking a skilled orthopedic surgeon. He took the time to answer every question and laid out the next several months of recovery. It took me by surprise seeing my new hip X-ray now. It’s not going anywhere. Very stable. Went back to all images from beginning of failed pinning. Seeing it all at once was sobering.

He wants me walking as much as possible and moving off cane as soon as I am able. Script for PT if I want it, and wants me to ride stationary bike as my knee will allow. Still dealing with lots of fluid around knee and foot.

Icing and elevating now as car ride, X-ray has me more sore than usual. 90 degree restriction for 12 weeks, as expected.

Thank you all for your support, wishes and prayers.

Sounds like a good post-op and the surgeon seems like a keeper! Not that you want anymore surgeries but nice to know how to reach. So happy things are definitely looking up! :egypdance:

Just yay!
And...you know to listen to your body and take it slow.
You are going to do great, I feel it!!!!:thumb:

Oh, Sarah, I am so happy for you and how improved your situation is. From the lowest of lows to faith restored, your belief and perseverance have been rewarded. Many healing blessings for your steady progress forward, stepping confidently into a hopeful and bright future. Smiling ear to ear, here. ❤️ Pat

Cup of Tea.jpeg Now then Sweet Sarah, what ARE you doing up at ... is it 4am your time? It is 9am here and I just popped on to have a lookie. Hopefully you will have a cup of tea and not coffee at such an hour. Hubby got up at 2.30am and got me a ginger tea as I had a ghastly coughing fit and now have a sore throat!

I am so pleased with your post-op with Dr Peterson ... I think you have found a real charm this time. I think it is good seeing the images. Mine would be sent immediately to my Surgeon and by the time we got back down to his office they were there and he would go over them. I am also given a disc.

So, I see a bright blue sky ahead for you, but please don''t rush to get ambulatory without assistance ... another week or two in our lives is nothing.

I am plodding along only using Phoenix but am still unsteady without here. I still try to achieve one new accomplishment each day, no matter how small it may be ... like carrying something unbreakable in my left hand as I am walking. I am feeling good in myself however and that is so important for the mental health ... just got to persevere with the physical side. The muscles around both knees are still not 100%, but hey ho ... I am walking!

It is drizzly out today (much needed) so I shall stay indoors. Supposed to meet a friend for lunch but I shall let Hubby go on his own and they can do men talk (well it is music talk with these two). He has another lunch tomorrow with another friend and they play pool. If it is nice tomorrow I may go and then the guy's wife will too and we sit in the sun with a glass of wine!

Well, I am whittering away here so I will love you and leave you wishing you a restful week.

Sending hugs and kisses ...

You are correct it’s very early. @Izabel I did fall asleep at 7:30 last night. Long day. Appointment was 45 minutes away. My big outing, lol took it out of me. Hubby escorted me to bed very early as I was slumping in my chair sound asleep.

Glad you are getting around easier. Walking is the goal to be sure. Carrying things is an added bonus. We had similar weather here yesterday, hoping it dries out today for a walk or two.

Hope you can get out for lunch tomorrow. Keeps the spirits up. Sending love. ❤

I was early to bed and early to rise also.
Sure hope the swelling in your foot and knee dissipates soon.
Have you ever considering incorporating the breathing technique advice @CricketHip has left for members in order to engage lymphatic system?

We are having some unseasonably warm weather and with the waggle back and forth in temps, almost everyone around me has been sick...except me!
Stay well and know healing vibes are still coming your way

I have been trying @CricketHip lymphatic breathing exercises. My leg looks rough. Looked back and this hung around a long time last surgery, so guess it’s just my body coping.

Glad you are avoiding getting sick. Everyone is sick around here too. Office yesterday is part of a hospital, lots of coughing, Really don’t want that right now. Hope you have a good one. :roseshwr:

Finally found your thread! So nice seeing your progress all at once - sounds as though the medics have finally sorted you out! Don't be too ambitious though! Please stay away from shopping expeditions for now! Can't you do online shopping or send husband out with a list? And cars are very bad. Stay at home and be lazy and make people come to you. You're so lovely I bet you have loads of friends wanting to visit and be useful. A bit of boredom and lots of napping are what's needed now.:sleeep:

@Fit4Family I wear a simple surgical mask with a bit of a wire along the top to fit my nose, when I go out in public, to avoid getting sick in the winter. I think 10 come in a pack from the drug store. It has worked well for me for three years. I keep one in my purse and car. Sometimes it's good to get out of the house.

You are too kind @bickypeg I do have lovely friends. Very grateful for that. They come around for laughing and chatting. So far have beat boredom with lots of holiday hoopla and now clean up. Taking it one area at a time, so slowly.

Guess the beauty of living through this two other times. There are no surprises. My body will come together with time. Just walking a lot inside and going up and down stairs one at a time. Glad you found me! I miss our old buds. I know everyone must move on. Happy Hump Day!
