Revision THR Hope for 2020, Revised THR

Happy one week Anniversary @Fit4Family
So glad you are still getting some decent sleep in...Must admit I had more pain from my knee the first hip I had done than the hip... but your knee has taken quite a bashing ... no wonder it’s swollen!! That is also contributing to your log leg as the quads need to fire up!!

Hoping that this time next year all this will just be a distant memory so you & your family can really party for New Year’s eve...
Follow that activity progression... it’s really the best way... even if you feel you want to push it.. don’t!!!
Thinking of you my darling .. love Chrissie xx

Congratulations on your first week anniversary and starting to move around a bit more. :yay:
Wishing you a pain free 2020 with your surgery just around the corner. We will all be here to hold your hand sweet friend.
Thank you, dear Sarah! Without a doubt I will appreciate that!

May 2020, be your year with no tears.:bath:

Hey Sarah—Congratulations you have made through week one!!!
So great that the surgery is behind you and every day is progress moving forward!!
Spring will be here and you will be ready in full force to enjoy it. I look forward to taking a nice long hike at Great Falls or River Bend Park to see the bluebells!

Hello Hipster Friends!

Day 9, last few days have been a slog. Know they are temporary so trying to suck it up buttercup and follow all the advice here. Assume the position :ice: Sleep when you can, and stay ahead of pain.

I like your thinking @Barbaraj I am looking forward to Spring. It will be great to take it all in, hopefully with two strong legs! Hope you have rested up from the holidays!

Hello Chrissie @Hoppy Nanny ❤️ I am taking solace in the fact that this time all my hip, quad, and backside pain is muscular and or incision. Knee is no longer feeling dislocated or out of alignment, just very swollen. I try to push it all out of my mind and focus on the goal. Sleep has been amazingly good this go around. Grateful for your friendship sweet hipster sister. xxxxx

Hi @SarahBee Hugs sweet friend. Will be by to see if you posted an update. Have been keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. This time does feel different than last time. I keep telling myself all temporary. xxxxx Sarah

Hoping your pain is not keeping you awake @VSlowLife Almost there! I appreciate your encouragement. Get to take off waterproof bandage tomorrow. Making slow, but steady progress. You will be on this side soon. Hope is in reach.

Hello @Laskyd Thank you! Yes, each day that passes is a small victory. Hoping this next few days I can nudge swelling to the door. Hip is improving daily. Made dinner last night with my husband playing assistant. Sleeping a lot, which is helping pass the time. You two will be hipster buds. Just a couple days apart from each other. Almost there!!

So pleased with your reports dear Sarah. You were the first thing I thought of waking on the 27th. Don't be frightened of painkillers though? It's very early days to be doing without the full complement. Can't your doctor recommend ones which don't interfere with your blood pressure? :happy-new-year-smiley-emoticon-4:

Hoping your pain is not keeping you awake
Thank you . Oh, it’s been doing that for a long while. :groan: Hopefully once the surgery heals, I will sleep better. Yes, checking off the medical clearance hoops each week, now.

You have touched many hearts in your journey. But for the grace of God, there go I, is how I was brought up. I am thrilled to hear you happy and progressing. What a wonderful invention, the waterproof bandage! I hope it removes easily.

 Yes, in less than 4 weeks!

You are so sweet @bickypeg I was actually in worse pain prior to surgery than I am today thankfully.

I gave up my 1 last Tramodol and 1Celebrex daily yesterday and feel worlds better today without either. I upped my Tylenol to 4,000 from 3,000 daily and I am trying to really walk frequently to move fluid. Feel 100% better without narcotics, so ice will be my pain killer for now. I normally have very low blood pressure, so used to this with medications. Hope you are doing ok, hoping you had a lovely holiday.

You are so sweet @VSlowLife Glad you are checking off one clearance at a time. I’m sure you are ready to put this behind you. ❤️

Hi F4F.
One day at a time..for sure.
I'm really excited for you as I know how diligent you are regarding this recovery...
Sending all the best Mojo your way...:friends:

@Fit4Family just popping in to say Hi! That you're feeling better with just Tylenol is good, that and ice of course! :ice:. Sounds like you are doing well, taking it day by day, slow and easy. Like that hubby was your kitchen assistant with dinner last night. It's the little things that sometimes let us know we're getting there.

Good Morning Two Cups.jpeg Sweet Sarah

So pleased you are doing well at the beginning of this journey in comparison to the other two. May it continue.

Wishing you a relaxing Sunday maybe watching a movie, looking at your garden and of course icing if necessary. Pleased you are off the pain meds, nasty critters!

Peaceful week.jpeg Izzy xx

Good Morning All,

Foot is a little less swollen today. Hoping it continues. Can’t get any shoe on. This happened last time, so I guess normal for me. Ate a bunch of fresh greens and celery and upped my water. Up a lot last night, but if it brings my foot back to a foot like shape I will take it!

Indeed. This spring will be AWESOME :catdance:!! New knee - newer outlook on life. I'm redoubling my efforts to reduce weight. This surgical investment is a motivator!

Love your attitude! Glad your new knee is giving you a great outlook on life! Wind is howling here Spring sounds very cheering indeed!

You are so right @Elf1 Felt really good to be back at the counter cooking. This seems to be coming along better than I had hoped. Grateful to have 10 days behind me. I know there is nothing magical about 2 weeks, but have it as my goal date right now to focus on getting there. Thank you for cheering me on!

Hi @Izabel Hope you have a lovely Sunday too. Hoping to do some very light cleaning. Son goes back to school tomorrow. Always sad when break is over. Darn alarms resume tomorrow. xxxx Sarah

Yes to Spring @Laskyd I have a feeling that this time will finally come together. Knee isn’t popping or complaining any more when I walk. Still using walker.

Hi my One Shoe, Walker Walkin' Nightstalker friend!:) :-) (:
Boy, we end up in some weird places with this recovery business.

Hope the swelling keeps going down so you can at least be a Two Shoed, Walker Walkin' Nightstalker.
We had some wicked wind that took down a tree which took out my power for most of the night.
I stubbed one toe going to find candle (flashlight batteries dead) and cracked my shin trying to find a lighter.
Not the same. I know, but I'm trying to feel your pain.:heehee:

Be super careful especially at night...No Falling down and going Boom!:no-fin:
Hope your Sunday is sweet!

Oh no @Mojo333 So sorry about your toe and shin. That storm must be all up and down east coast. I was convinced last night we had a leak in our roof and went exploring (lights on). So I keep my cane hanging at top of stairs. Borrowed second walker so I can leave one upstairs. So trying to be all quiet looking for said leak and accidentally knocked my cane off stairs. Cane fell to first floor, without me thankfully and woke up my poor husband. He looked so freaked out. No more night investigating for me. Lol. Sun is peaking out here. Hope you have an uneventful day down your way. Appreciate the sympathy pain. Lol. Where are my cute emojis. Can’t open, oh well imagine what you like friend.

Poor hubby.
I remember after a few weeks, I managed to slip out of bed with the thought of letting my poor husband get a much deserved break from escorting me to bathroom or to re-settle in recliner.
I went to the fridge, tried to open quietly...like so the condiments in the door wouldn't rattle...and one of the inside shelves on the door popped loose sending jam, pickle relish, hot sauce and you-name-it , rolling everwhere.:umm:
My poor husband was sure I had fallen.
Then he frumped at me...What are you trying to do?!
I promptly burst into tears and made him feel worse.
They really do deserve gold medals.

Sun is out
Sky is blue
Gonna chill out
Hope you do too.
:ice:

Hi F4F! Sooooo glad to hear you've sailed through what I consider the worst part of recovery with nominal pain. God knows you've suffered enough! Keep up the good healing, slow and steady. Glad the ice and Tylenol are working their magic. Methinks third time is the charm for you.
Have a great week! :egypdance:
