I just had my THR yesterday, the Dr. said it went very well....I only remember the spinal catheter......next thing I woke up in the recovery room, gabbed all night with my roomy Eleanor, and I am home already. The surgery took only 45 minutes, but because I didn't lose the weight, my incision was longer. 8" instead of 4". The hospital was like a hotel! The room service menu was so good that I almost wanted to stay another day.
Tomorrow the visiting nurse will come over, and then I will also get 11 PT visits at home.
The procedure itself was the easiest. The hard part was the thousands of pre-op tests, and the anticipation. I am a somewhat sore and swollen, and am using both a walker and crutches, hoping each day will get easier.

Well
Hop
that was a long journey for you. I forgot you were going home right after.
Pretend you are in the hospital and rest for the next few days.
Congrats
Judy

WoW,Hop!!!! Can't believe you're HOME already!!! How are you feeling??? Each day will get better & better! You did it!!!!! :)

Far out! That was quick! Well done Hop........! Sending love and hugs your way and wishing you a speedy recovery!

Thanks everyone!!! Its nice to be home. I have a slight temp though 99.7......the nurses weren't concerned though. They only concern if 101 or higher. Is that common?

Yep, that's how it goes. A mini-temp can be the result of the surgery and the upheaval it causes in your body. Nowt to worry about!

Good to know you are through and feeling good, Hoppy!

Now that you mention it,,,,I had a slight fever, too! But the next day ,I was back to "normal!",,,,,,Now I just have to convince Hubby! :)

Welcome home Hop and so good to hear all went well.

I have had a temperature after every operation I have ever had, and I've had quite a few. Of course they keep a very close eye on me, as you would hope they would but it always turns out to be "just me".

Best wishes for a quick recovery.

Chris :)

that makes me feel better about my upcoming LTHR!!!thanks!!!

That is such a relief to hear! I was worried about an infection.
Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
My hospital roomie had a thr too, and will be joining here after her 1-week rehab

Congrats, Hop! You finally made it to the other side!! So glad you are doing well! I had a temp. the first few days, too. Hugs to you and may your recovery be as uneventful as your surgery!

Karen

Looks like we're going to have to make up a NEW name for you soon!!!! :)

Glad to hear things went so well. Now back to one day at a time and one foot in front of the other...

Best wishes!

Mud's right! Heel Toe Heel Toe! And don't worry!!!!you're going to be very tired! Its normal!
DON'T forget the stool softeners! :)

Hi Hop, my NJ friend. Congrats on being in recovery. And yes, I too had a slight temp a couple days after surgery. Will be interested to hear how youdo recuperating totally at home.

How is your appetite? Are you steady when you get up to go to bathroom? Only asking cause those were my problems in the first few days after surgery.

Trust you have hubby and friends to help you. I echo Judy's comment to pretend you are still getting the hospital care--no fair pushing it just because you are home.

Wow Hopalong,
That's a speedy return home...you mustn't have 5 children to chase after when you get home!. Personally I'm aiming for as long as possible in hospital, plus a stint in rehab...sounds like a holiday? I would really be struggling if i came home to the baby and all that with a painful wound etc, and of course he wouldn't understand that Mummy probably doesn't want him jumping all over her.......
None the less, well done....a bit like childbirth...you've made it and now after you recover from post natal fog you'll be up and running..... Remember that when the baby sleeps, so should you, and baby's that cry(or scream or....) go to bed and so should yours!
Rachel

Just hope the "nurses" don't go on strike!
Oh and Hop! Sleep when you can! You will need all you can get! :)

What great news, Hop!!! I can't believe you got to come home so quickly. Here's hoping this is just the start of a very easy recovery!!
