Well tomorrow is my long awaited knee scope. My doc told me it is my Christnmas surprise. There are many possibilities with different recovery times depending on what he finds and what he does.
I just hope I am aware enough when he talks to me to remember what he did. I am bringing a note pad in hopes that someone , if not me, is able to write down everything he says.
Maybe I should get a recorder. Both knees hurt a lot now although the MRI says it is all in the patella.

Jo, I know you have had a cleaning out of your knee. What is the recovery after that? I am having thoracic spine fusion next and wondering when I should schedule it.

Thanks everyone for listening

Well, Judy, have to admit I was shocked when the surgeon told me I would need 6 weeks off sick minimum. I've scrubbed for so many of these procedures and it never occured to me that they were painful!! But I had overdone the sick leave and so I took two weeks of my annual leave allocation. I worked in recovery at the time and so was able to sit a lot of the time. I only did 20 hrs a week in three shifts so wasn't too trying. Plus when I returned, I went to work with my TENS machine strapped on and used it almost constantly during the shift. That really helped me cope. The toughest bit was getting from the car park to the theatres (OR) as it was a LONG walk! I had to use a cane for that. But the hospital car park management was extremely helpful and created a special temporary disabled parking ticket for me so I could park near the building. Was I ever grateful for that!

Thanks Jo

I was expecting maybe a week of problems if he only cleaned out the joint. Thanks for the warning. It is a surprise to see it lasts so long.

Had a talk with my spine doc today, I feel much better about the spine surgery. If this doesn't work, he will have to go in from the front which is major, major surgery that I do not want to have to face.

There goes the knee throbbing!!!

Judy

Judy, good luck on the surgery tomorrow. I will be praying that this is a tremendous help to you and fixed the problem. When you have time and feel up to it would you please email and tell me about the spine surgery you are having. I have so many problems with my spine and no one is willing to risk surgery on the worst part of it which is in my cervical spine. They say there is too great a chance I would end up on a ventilator for the rest of my life which scares me to no end. I won't keep you. Just wanted to say good luck, I know you have to be getting ready. Oh, I did have my knees, both of them, cleaned out the year before my BTKR. At least it gave the OS some idea of what he was dealing with and I did get some pain relief for a bit. My problem was that I had OA and calcium deposits and was bone on bone so was lucky it helped as much as it did. Again, good luck, Rowdy
