Wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a revision OS in MN, Minneapolis or Rochester, or I would even head to Chicago, but prefer Minneapolis.

I had a THR at 29 due to a left hip problem as a kid, I had the Depuy Pinnacle Metal on Metal, been painful for a while, finally went in and I have high Cobalt and Chromium and osteolysis.

I am 37 now and I can't be doing these revisions too often, I have to pick the absolute best OS, any advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks

Welcome to BoneSmart. So sorry to hear of your problems with the metal on metal hip. It's certainly something that has happened to a lot of people, but please know they have the hips revised and go on just fine with no further issues. Hopefully that will be the case for you as well.

@TwoHip Jamie has given you lots of choices for a revision surgeon. I am sure you know the issues with MoM implants. So sorry you ended up with one! Good luck with finding that surgeon. Please do keep us updated.

@TwoHip sorry to hear about the MOM issues and congrats on getting it replaced. Hip implants today have come a long way and can last for many years.

Just found out I received a DePuy Pinnacle metal head (poly liner, not metal liner) for my right hip and am already concerned.

Twohip, how did you discover it was your metal hip, were you sick for a long time?

It's been painful for a while and limiting, stared feeling loose too. Had a copy of all my records and started reading, realized it was the MoM Pinnacle, went to an OS, confirmed all the symptoms.

I want to take care of this soon but also find the right guy!

How has it gone so far, how old are you? How long of a recovery are they predicting?

What was the date of this surgery.
When was this diagnosed and what are your symptoms now?
I really wouldn't worry about this too much. I've known people have 3, 4 even 5 revisions with no appreciable problems.

Everything is where it is supposed to be, need to work on abductor strength and loose a few lbs.

54 years old, hit golf balls 3 weeks ago, just need to work on strengthening!
