Hi- I have just joined this group today. I'm 47 and I am 7 weeks post-op from a total right hip replacement. I have read several postings and I am so looking forward to talking with others who have gone through and are going through what I am. Thank you for a very interesting site.

Hi shery- I don't even know where to begin. I started having problems well over a year ago, it started in my right groin. Had x-rays and they were normal. The pain continued and 6 months later had an MRI. I am very stubborn as my line of work is very demanding, not just mentally, but physically. Needless to say, saw a surgeon and he sent me to a specialist. I ended up at U of M and met the most awesome surgeon. I had, as he says, osteoarthritis, dysplagia, fusion and a torn labrum, all of this inturn created a cyst in the acetabulum. Sooo, off to surgery I went. I opted for an epidural so I could be awake for the whole surgery. What an awesome experiance. Up and walking with toe touch weight bearing using a walker and 3 days later I was home. I now use a cane when I go outside, for stability. Should probably still be taking the pain meds, but I use Motrin now. I would do it all again, if I had to. I hope this helps you, if you need more info let me know.
