Hi

I'm visiting from the knee board, and am wondering if there is a book any of you would recommend for people who are having hip replacement? I have a friend who is having this surgery.

Linda,
Josephine may know of some reading material. I have a few websites that I went to along with this one.

Try these:
www.zimmer.com
I wanted to know about Arthritis.

broken link removed: https://www.hipsandknees.com/hip/hipdisease.htm
This one explains the before, operation and post operation.

www.hipreplacement.com
This one just gives good general information.

www.orthoinfo.org
This one is the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons

Hope this helps....Patty

I'm currently reviewing some books but haven't had the time to finish reading them yet.

"A Patient's Guide to Knee and Hip Replacement."
Irwin Silber
Writer/journalist who had both done and wrote this detailed biographical account of his experience. A bit wordy for my tastes.
4/10

"Getting Hip "
Sigrid MacDonald
Another personal experience from a writer.
A quick flick through revealed it to be a bit wordy with almost no illustrations and a very personal story interspaced with some not too technical info
as yet unread - 5/10

"Your Complete Guide To Total Hip Replacement"
Jennifer Franpin, PT
Excellent book written by a physiotherapist (PT) and therefore goes into the post op care very well. Highly recommended.
8/10
