In July 2022 I have a right total knee replacement and I’m having pain in my right hip now and just went to the doctor and he said I have no Cartlidge and will need a replacement. Is that unusual to have two replacements right after each other on the same side?

@Tgcmoore So sorry you are now suffering more joint issues. It is not unusual to develop arthritis in other joints. How fast this occurs is really an individual thing. I'm assuming that right knee is pretty stable by now? There should be no problem in having that hip replaced on the same side.

How soon will you get a surgery date?

He said in 3 months because that’s how far out his calendar is.
Also a few weeks ago I had a fluoroscopy guided injection in my hip joint. The pain went away for a week and 2 days but came back. This lead to him saying it was my hip causing the pain and when an X-ray was done he said I have no cartilage but the radiologist who did the fluoroscopy said I had arthritis but still had cartilage, causing me to be confused.

I had a similar issue -- but in the reverse order! My right hip was replaced in December 2019 and by the end of 2020, my right knee was in bad shape. Because of the pandemic, however, I had to wait until September of 2021 for my TKR!

Hope you are able to get a surgery date soon!

pretty common for all of our joints to wear out once past the 1/2 century mark. Can't say how common it is to have both on one side but many have had it done, our replacement sides and dates are in our signatures.
Second opinions are always a good thing, especially if you have doubts or confusion. Healthcare is a business, they make money by doing procedures.
