Hi everyone I'm so sleepy.
I had a few wonderful surprises today. No Foley Catheter
And No Epidural
I'm all iced down, I'm asking for my meds every 4 to 6 hours, and NO Morphine.
Only Percocet.
No pain here, I must be dreaming, No wait a minute, I can't be dreaming!!! I don't sleep, remember?
What Da!!!
I woke up to a river view and it was over before it started.
Today was a good day.
Luv you guys, I'm gona finally go to sleep.
@MarkK Thanks Mark. I will take my fist walk at 10am.
It doesn't feel like there's anything going on down there. I just see a bandage.
I'm hitting the meds like clock work. Just 2 percs every 4 to 6 hours.
I had about 2 spoon fulls of each of the following for breakfast. Cream of wheat, yogurt, & Apple sauce. A little tea, Apple juice, and water.
Just testing out the playing field for signs of nausea.
But all in all Mark, the waiting time from checking in the hospital until actually being in the operating room was the hardest.
Hi @2 for Jeff - Welcome to the other side...the view is great!! Glad that your surgery went well and recovery is going fine so far!!! That looks like a 7th floor view!! well rest, ice, and medicate!!
PS - I don't remember any of my PTs, nurses, or assistants...It felt like a dream state when i was there...but they were the absolute best - knowledable, kind and friendly!!
I am eager to hear your report after you take your first walk. Hopefully your other hip doesn't overshoot the relief you are getting from pain with your new hip.
@toohip 10:00 pt was only getting in and out of bed. And only 3 or 4 step forward and backwards with walker.
I really thought I would be able to do more.
Oh well, first day. Baby steps I guess.
My Muscles are so weak.
What is the name of the muscles that you use when you lay flat on your back and slide your heel bringing your knee to your chest.
I need lots of work on that muscle
@bsilvers I think my expectations are to high Brian right now. Muscle are so tight but no bone on bone pain anymore.
I'm hoping we at least walk to the bathroom next time around.
@2 for Jeff , the muscle tightness is to be expected so don't let that disappoint you. It will be a while for the muscles to recover from the surgery. Take the small things like the bone on bone pain being gone as achievements and you are on a different path now of recovery instead of the path of dealing with pain. You will feel liberated once you get over this recovery with both hips, a new lease on life.
@bsilvers YYaahh!!! Made to the nurses station down the hall.
The walking loosed up the muscles a bit. Heel toe, heel toe. Felt good this time.
One more session this afternoon.
And as for you my dear friend in Florida , Mazel Tov!
Hi @2 for Jeff - Just follow @CanukTriMom list!!! It's great and just soooo true. Don't worry about muscles right now...they need and will heal. Just listen to everything cheryl says!!! I love that list!!
@2 for Jeff welcome to the pain free and sleepy world that is the other side ! CanukTriMom's advice is spot on. Now is the time to remember that your recovery is a marathon and not a sprint. The patience you show now will really pay off, don't overdo things now and hurt yourself. Slowly slowly wins the race. Your body is bruised and your muscles and nerves have been hurt, even if it doesn't feel much like it because of the Percocet. You've got all the time in the world. Take it slow now and you'll be walking round Disneyland with Chloe before you know it. Sleep well !!
