Hi, I am 38 years old and I had a hip core decompression on March 26,2019. I thought I was doing the right thing well nothing has been right. I am experiencing more pain then ever and it goes into my knee. Is this normal. The doctors here just look at me like I'm stupid. I'm driving myself insane. Not sleeping and can't bare weight long on it. What do I do?

Oh my stars... I hate to hear you are struggling and still in pain.
What has been you activity level since the procedure and where is the pain manifesting?
Your OS doesnt seem to be concerned?

Thank You so much for responding back ! I went thru the PT and my os said I was free to do whatever. So of course I live on a farm and ride horses and raise show pigs and I swim. So I am very active. Well just in the past week I'm experiencing the same pain from my femoral head . This time the pain shoots down in the groin and into my knee and I've never had problems before i had this core decompression surgery. The groin bothered me but my femur and knee did not. my os definitely doesn't care.

@Courtney61 I've moved your thread to the Hip Recovery forum. I know you didn't have hip replacement, but we use this forum for anyone recovering from any hip surgery. You'll get more feedback here.

I'm sorry that you still have so much pain after all this time. I've heard that CD can be a tough recovery. I hope things improve for you soon. Are you icing your hip often? That can be helpful after surgery.

Thank You! Sorry about that ! Yes I ice it but nothing seems to help ! I so regret this surgery !

Courtney, what exactly did your surgeon say when you told him about the pain? Did he take an xray to check that everything was okay?

If you could, please provide a little history on how you came to need a core decompression.

Also...how about giving us an idea of what a typical day looks like for you in terms of exercise (if you still do any) and all your activity (including normal home chores and work, please).

Alex is correct that this is a difficult and painful procedure to recover from. Surgeons (bless their hearts) don't always make this clear to their patients and they really don't have a lot of first-hand experience with the day to day aspects of any recovery. So, they themselves sometimes don't realize what their patients go through. But that's what BoneSmart is here for. We'll help you get this sorted out.

My surgeon has really done nothing for me. My last check-up was in July and he told me everything looked good .I am talking about a surgeon who didn't help me for almost a year. He didn't do any X-rays after my surgery at all. When I called him over a week ago when I started to notice the pain he was like it's normal. I said even though it's been almost 4 months he said yes . i have been doing what I would normally do like riding horses ,walking ,swimming and that's my every-day life that I can't do right now. I am a stay at home wife so of course I do keep up with housework and stuff for the kids . This surgery has taking the life out of me . I've taking over the counter meds also heat and ice I've tried lideocain patches and just trying to rest.

@Courtney61 So sorry you are dealing with this pain. As others have already said, recovery from CD can be long and painful - usually much more difficult than from THR.

Can you find another surgeon who is a bit more compassionate? Sounds like your current OS just isn't doing anything for you. You need someone who specialises in younger patients and who has no connection to your current OS.

Hi @Courtney61
I'm sorry for all you're dealing with.
I hope you'll consider looking for a better match in a surgeon. It doesn't seem yours is taking your pain or concerns seriously.
Wishing you comfort and relief.
