My husband Pappyz is having rtkr next month. We are somewhat nervous and worried. This is a great site for him and also me. I will try to keep everyone informed about his condition after surgery.

Welcome Bubblezz and Pappyz! You will find that this forum is a blessing.
I had a RTKR July 3rd. The support I have gotten and the friendships I have made here are wonderful. Josephine, our resident expert is a wealth of knowledge.
She has helped me in so many ways. We are like a big extended family here. No matter what time, day or night, there is almost always someone to chat with. This surgery was the best thing for me by far. I can't wait to have my left leg done.
At 5 weeks post-op I am doing things I could not do for months before my surgery. It is a wonderful thing to not have that joint pain anymore.
The recovery takes ALOT of hard work, but it is WELL WORTH it. You must be willing to give 110%. The surgery and recovery is not a walk in the park, by no means, but believe me, when I tell you that regaining your life and having freedom to move without pain is something you will never regret. I don't, and I don't think anyone else on this forum has either. Best wishes to you both, and you are in my prayers.

Welcome -

You're about to embark on a terrific journey! Be sure you are ready for lots of ups and downs as it certainly is a challenge, but hugely worth it all! I had bone-on-bone knees for the past 8 years and the quality of my life was going down the toilet quickly. Tried everything except surgery and then just took the initiative to get it over with. Have been spending the whole summer in PT and watching my stride, stretching, bending, icing, practicing stairs, etc. but my life is coming back to where it should be! I even plan on being able to get out and cross-country ski this winter for the first time in years!

So best of luck, we're all here to cheer you on and commiserate when you have a set back or problem. You'll be dancing on your nice new legs before you know it!!

I don't know how I would be getting through all this without the wonderful discussions and comments found here. Josephine is just a wonder as are so many of the others! Support is so important during this voyage. Feel free to contact me any time! (I am four hours behind the east coast so I am usually on when all else have gone to bed :) )

What she said :)

It is so great to have this group to ask about on all those little (and not so little) questions you don't want to bother an OS or PT about.
