Spring is coming up here in the northern aspects of the frozen tundra, but it is not too early to think spring! I took my bike in today to get a tune-up and have new clipless pedals installed. It should be ready in a few days, so, as soon as the weather breaks, I am going to be riding a real bike, not the kind that doesn't go anywhere! We have a great metroparks system here in Cleveland, as well as a National PArk that runs along side the Ohio Canal.

I ride my bike to school and doing errands and to and from the farm during the summer...I hope that I can regain leg strength so that I can do that again..What kinds of bikes do you folks have---and how far do you ride? During the summer, I would average about 70-90 miles a weeks on the bike. I have a real nice Raleigh that I have modified with better parts---better brakes, better pedals, lighs, etc...

What do you folks ride? If you don't, you know you had better---it is great for your leg sttrength and your cardio system.

I ride a Chevrolet Z71 4X4 Truck. I used to ride for leg strength but I've had too many close calls with vehicles. I've got an off road bike but it is just too time consuming to load it and go somewhere safe. I'm going to have to stick with stationary and hope the Dr. will eventually let me get back into Kenpo and Kickboxing. That's great cardio.
I bet you are rally chomping at the bit to get out and go..Do you have hills up there to contend with??

Since we heat our house with firewood, I have a Ford F-150 4X4, but with the cost of gas, and that I need the excercise, I am going back to cycling. at most here in Northern Ohio near Lake Drerie, we have at most rolling hills---not too bad. Down in the southern part of the statre---in the Appalachian area, the have got some serious hills...not my cup of tea. We have hundreds of miles of bike trails up here in our MetroParks and the National Park System, as well. Many cities have bike lanes right on the side of the roads, too

We have some bike lanes but I've had semi's blow by and blow me off the road. Trails are mostly in the National Forest.

Oregon is a very bike friendly place, but my bum just never gets used to the seat on my bike. I gave up a few years back.

I ride shotgun and let my husband drive. Aren't you sorry you asked? LOL Glad you are feeling so good though, gives me hope that one day right around a not too distant corner we all will feel that good. Rowdy

I know what you mean. I love hearing folks are doing great and that I'm only a few weeks behind them. It sure give you hope.

When I had knee problems years agon---back in `994, my MD then convinced me to ride rather than run. It took some getting used to, but I love it now, and that Cleveland has so many miles of Park trails and bike-friendly roads. I need to get back out there and get my legs stronger.

Glad to hear you are getting back to doing something you love, that is what all this agony we are going through is all for. I can only rock back and forwad on my stationarry bike at the moment, I am almost 10 weeks but seem slow to recover. Only 90 degree ROM too. Scar healed well though at 2 weeks!! I have thought about getting a bike in the future, my OS has always said it is a great way to get exersise with bad knees.

Anyway, enjoy the cycling, I am looking forward to getting rid of all our snow so I can at least get outside for a walk safely. Sue
