Thank you, no, not long. I am impatient for it, because the recovery for my first knee replacement six weeks ago is being hampered by not having a strong other leg, and by the severe valgus deformity of the knee that is still due to be replaced, which literally gets in the way of the new straight leg when I try to walk. But I am also very nervous, particularly about how I’m going to cope with both legs being weak and sore, and because this time of course I know better what I am putting myself through!

Understand that anxiety but I think you are doing the right thing in view of the valgus deformity. The main problem I think is the stairs and you have a stairlift don't you? I certainly couldn't manage my stairs with both knees operated on. Hopefully your already operated leg will be strong enough for level walking and rehab. You seem to be doing really well after your first surgery.

Thanks @EalingGran. I won’t change my mind - it’s too difficult to live the way I am currently (even with a stairlift)… But my new right knee isn’t very strong yet, so I’m worried it won’t be up to being the ‘good’ leg. I guess people who’ve had simultaneous bilateral knee replacements manage, so I will too…

Best wishes for your surgery tomorrow, @FionaW. Since it's not your first time, you know what to expect.

When you feel up to it post-op, please start a recovery thread and tell us about how this one compares.

Good luck! We are all rooting for you. You seem very stoical and your surgeon did a good job straightening your first knee so I am sure you will cope well.
