My pre op is scheduled formonday june1 and my surgery is june 15th. did a stupid thing last nite, my 26 year old son and his girlfriend came for the weekend and we stayed up into the wee hours out by the pool talking, laughing, drinking beer ( and being the weakling, smoking some cigarettes) wow, what a thing to do before being checked out by the doc on monday! i am more scared than ever!!

I take it you're not usually a smoker? If so, two or three aren't going to hurt you.

Hello . Well though I can't tell you what you xray will look like. I can tell you I smoked steady for 15 yrs. My xrays were ok. at the time. While in the hospital for 4 days and I couldn't smoke, I decided if I made it that long without smoking, I am pretty much over the hump. I dedcided not to start up again.I have NOT touched one since. Try not to worry. Please let us know how you make out....

You'll be fine, Creblue....just those nervous jitters sneaking in on you again. Tell them to "Take a Hike!!!"

WOW!!! Good going, Kim! Quitting is the BEST gift you could give yourself and your family! Now YOU have a good reason to quit, Blue! :)

Another cheer from me too Kim......way to go girl! You should be proud of yourself!:thmb:

And Creblue.....don't beat yourself up about letting your hair down and relaxing - as Jo said, it would not have done any long term harm and probably did you a world of good in the short term! We all need to unwind occasionally!

Peta......which reminds me.....we're due for our wine party soon!!! :)

I haven't met anyone who didn't get the jitters, I know I sure did. You are 15 days pre-op, my surgeon had me lay off of any pain meds, booz, cigars, etc about 10 days out, so I suspect a little libation this far from surgery isn't going to make a world of difference.

On a related note, I kicked the cigar habit. :shk: I stopped 10 days before and didn't try another until I was about 3 1/2 months post-op. Just didn't taste right. I tried again about two weeks ago and got the same effect. So I gave my humidor and my remaining stash to a friend who stills smokes em...

I use to drink coffee in the morning and caffinated sodas all afternoon. Now I have one cup of java in the morning, maybe one soda at lunch. The rest of the time its water or fruit juice.

Think about all the good changes you can make as part of this process.

Wow, Mud....now THAT'S some life-changing surgery!!! Good for you!

Obessive worries??? LOL don't even give them a second thought. We all had those worries before surgery, we wouldn't be human if we didn't. You will be fine on Monday and if not you will deal with what ever comes up.

Just to make you feel better......I had been caring for my Mother in Law prior to my surgery. She was in the hospital and then in a nursing home. I went for my pre admit workup and they found I had contracted MSRA ??spelling. A week of anti biotics and I was fine. Moral of the story...HAND IN THERE!!! You will be fine.

Kathy

Thanks again to all of you! I have had so much stress lately, besides worrying about my surgery. I work full time and my 85 year old father, who lives down the road, has been up and down. I have taken him to houston hospital and then Bryan hospital all in a weeks time, not to mention his shopping, caring for his colostomy needs, etc. i feel very healthy, tho. I am sure tests will be ok.But i guess i the back of my mind there is that social smoking i have doing for a long time to scare me. This is going to be THE time to quit that social habit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Blue....I just prayed my surgical team had. Good night's sleep prior to MY surgery!nnn(hank G-d they DID and the results have been spectacular!!! All the best to you, too!! And quit those damn gigs! You DON't need em!!!!

Whoops...Quit those CIGS! I'm sure your gigs are just fine!!! LOL!!! :)

I am from Brenham, Tx, 60 miles west of houston, 60 miles from Bryan-College station and about 80 miles from Austin!
sometimes, I wonder if my gigs are ok,!! but i plan to quit those cigs!!!!!

Its really the best thing you can do for yourself and your family! You've got plenty of livin' to do!!! :)
