My name is Myrto,I am 26 years old (female) and I had my LTHR surgery 10 weeks ago(June 30th).
I was diagnosed with JRA (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis) at the age of 3 but I 've lived a very active (more than normal ) life since then. When I was 16-17 years old my left hip started to hurt but it was not a big deal till last year; one day (after miles of walking) I wasn't able to walk anymore. Next days were much better but gradually I was in more and more pain and I could actually hear a cracking noise from my hip every time I stepped on my left leg. I had x-rays and my doctors said that I had to have THR asap despite my young age.
I wish I would had known about this forum before my surgery since I was really scared and freaked out; thought that no young people have it done and that I wouldn't be able to live a normal life again!
Things are going so great already that it's hard to believe!I am able to walk, go out at nights, go shopping and ride my bike again.
I just want to say to everyone who is about to have a surgery to expect major improvement and don't have any second thoughts about it! :thmb:
I can reply to any of your questions regarding my recovery-I can totally understan how scared and depressed some of you may feel before the surgery or even the first weeks after it.
So, hello to everyone and thank you all for this great group!
