hi all
I joined because of all the compassion and support I saw on the site. I just found it last night and Tuesday is my surgery. I see lots of people did QUADS and leg lifts to prepare. I haven't. I did join Curves, but did not target any one area. Will I be ok? Thanks to any who reply.

Hi And Welcome ill be honest I had many surgeries before this one I had no muscles in my legs at all . I got there but it took longer. Like I had a hard time lifting my leg after surgery.....Dont get me wrong you will be fine, but I think it makes it a lil harder....You will be just fine, they will give you exercises to do to help you.........Good Luck on your surgery....we have all been thru it so please post anytime and any questions we are all here to help ya....join in and keep your mind off of your upcoming surgery..... We also have a social thread enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!

Nuknee,
You will be fine. Curves is better then not doing anything. Leg lifts do help you to move your leg up and around faster but if you have been active you will be fine.
Your OS should have had his nurse tell you this when he set up your TKR. But I really think that PT is great at getting you on the road to recovery. Prayers will be comming your way on tuesday and everyday till I hear from you saying how great it is going!

Hi, Nuknee...welcome to BoneSmart! So glad you found us BEFORE you went in for surgery....even if it's just for a couple of days, maybe you have some questions and concerns that we can help with.

Don't worry about now specifically working on quads before surgery. I didn't do any target exercising either and I recovered just fine. You will too! The therapists will get busy on you right after surgery and you can learn exercises then that will make you stronger.

I spent three years walking with a cane (half that time walking with two canes) before my surgery. The only "exercise" my legs got was hauling my rear-end up and down the stairs inside my house.

Apparently, I'm doing well and seemingly on schedule for a typically normal recovery.

thank you all! I feel much better now. I can do this. I think I was feeling a little panicky yesterday. And worried that I wasn't ready. Thanks so much for sharing your stories and advice. And now I know this site for my next TKR!

Hey Nuknee. you will you will be just fine.....Is your sugery this Tuesday or did I misunderstand....sorry...I didnt realize it was that soon are you doing OK......You will be fine really. The hosp PT will help so much............I wish you good luck. I hope you come back and post and let us know how you are...........Anything we can do or just talk please join it......Think positive you will be fine...........:)

I had to be at the hospital early like that too. The good news is that you don't have time to think about much but just getting there and you are even a little groggy.....makes things go easier. You'll be fine!!! Best of luck to you and a prayer for you too!!

thanks Jaime and Angel for the prayers. Those are always appreciated. I'll be on the other side quickly. And I'm sure I will need lots of advice as I go through the recovery. I'm so glad I found you all.
