Saw my OS yesterday for my 6 month check-up. Knee is still slightly "puffy" (OS's term) and my knee still aches a little when I overdo. OS said it's most likely tendonitis and I should go back on Mobic and Tramadol for a few weeks. He also gave me a sample of 2 Flector Patches and an Rx for more.

I looked up the side-effects on the internet and they're scary but the pharmacist where I get my meds, said it's being used a lot, no one has complained about side-effects and the patch really helps.

Has anyone had experience with the Flector Patch... and did it work?

I used it last night for about 4 hours... not the 12 hours it recommends you can use it. My knee didn't ache during the night (a good thing) but this morning, I'm back to the slight ache again. From one of the medical websites: It's a "Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It's used to treat pain, redness, swelling and heat inflammation. The side effects are scary... stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea (they're covering everything here), gas, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, dizziness. I suppose if I looked up the side-effects of some of the other meds I'm taking, I'd be scared of those, too!

I think if you read it carefully you'll see in the heading that such medications are "usually well tolerated" meaning that side effects are not that common. You should look up the side effects of the artificial sweetener aspartame if you really want to scare yourself. And then check and see how many drink and food products it's added to!

I hope you are taking the Trams as well as using the patches.

Hi Jo... hope you are continuing to do well with your recovery.

Yes, I am taking the tramadol while using the patch. I will use the patch tonight since I do seem to tolerate it.

And, as far as side-effects, I get a kick out of the ads on TV for meds that say all sorts of terrible that can happen to you. It's a wonder those TV ads actually help sell a medication!

FYI... I've been using the Flector Patches and they work great. Since April 9th, I've worn them twice. The ache around my knee area is so much better. To get the best results, I'm supposed to wear it 10 to 12 hours. Problem is, I can't wear it while sleeping. I toss and turn enough that it comes off. But I've worked out a system and wear it about 8 hours.

We're leaving tomorrow for a cruise down to Mexico for 7 days... and I'm taking the patches with me. I'm really looking forward to a vacation and a celebration... I turned "70" on April 15th!

Sandy.....why don't you get some surgical tape to put around the patch at night so you get the full benefit of the patch! Hope you have a great vacation! :)

Oh shucks, Sandy! Well, anyway, I hope you have a great pain free vacation!!!!! :)

Sandy, is it possible for you to wear a stretch bandage over the patch?
