SLEPT! Not sure how or why, but was it great. I would wake up alittle to change positions, but it was nothing like previously when I was so uncomfortable I would have to get up and ended up back in the recliner. When I did wake to shift all I would think is wow, how much I wasn't uncomfortable or hurting. It really was the most wonderful sensation, my knees just were. I have no idea if it will happen again tonight or not, but like many of you have said, it shows the light at the end of the tunnel.

See, and I figured that for all the knee folk the sleep answer was pretty obvious. Reckon male knee folk have other first thoughts. Come to think of it, that probably applies to non-knee men folk also. Sorry to let ya down gat. How was your weekend?

Marvelous, simply marvelous. My beautiful wife, God bless her, and I rode the Harley down to Panama City for the weekend. Ate when we wanted to; slept when we wanted to; rode when we wanted to; went to the beach when we wanted; went to bed when we wanted to..................you get the idea. Weather was wonderful. A good time was had by all.

Yeah, but is that what you wanted? No, actually sounds like you had good time. A chance to reconnect with wife after all this knee drama. Staying connected is important so the "for better and worse" stuff can happen. I bet it was good riding weather! Good anything weather.

Gat,
I thought about you guys being 90 miles away all weekend.
I got out of going on the field trip...Apparently the chorus directer adjusted a couple of attitudes..
Next time let's exchange cell numbers...I'll drive over and we can go to Capt. Anderson's or something.

Funny that you quoted the for better or worse - this morning I was thinking that for
my wife our vows should have been:

In stiffness and health

This is really interesting because since Jennifer and I are almost same day TKR's.

I was thinking this morning that I think at 5 weeks I'm turning the corner (or perhaps
for the Brits "I've gone round the bend"). I am sleeping better, there are times I
can putter around the house and not be constantly reminded of the knee last night I only took one Vicodin. I'm actually
beginning to think that I've finally gotten to the point that my knee is better than before
surgery.

Of course then I have PT this morning and feel like ****.

When I had my rotator cuff repaired a few years ago, the surgeon said something like "It will be 8 weeks before you come to my office and tell me you made the right decision". He
was right and I think for me and the TKR it is perhaps 6 weeks.

Agreed, EDK. It was 8 weeks for me and I'm so glad I did it! Still have stiffness and soreness if I overdo, but I'm at 4 months (18 weeks) and it's coming along very well.

I have those times too, when I'm doingsomething and then all of the sudden I think, oh my knees, like oh yeah. Who would have ever thought we would get to this point. I was just looking at card my girlfriend sent me as encouragement before the surgery and she wrote I can't wait to see you walking pain free. That seems foreign in some ways. Yeah this has been a big process and lots of work, but why did I wait so long and why was I so scared. I know, that is normal, but from this side it seems so strange. Ya know? And though I've had moments of what have I done... actually I've been glad I did it from the moment I woke up on the operating room table just before they brought me in to recovery. I have also been very fortunate to have had a "graceful" recovery. Ed, I think we have the exact same day 3-18?

OK the curiosity is killing me and know one else will go there, what Patti did you do last night? (CRINGe)

Patti's Mom said: Patti, if you can't BE a lady, at least ACT like one.

Patti said: AWWWWWWW Mama!

Patti's Mom said: Patti! You won't never be right!

O.K. I just got home. Started at the top slowly scrolling down thinking it's going to be good..Got here and nothing..
Was your husband happy??or anyone else for that matter??
Would I be happy.....Never mind, don't answer that.
