Hi,

Has anyone experience groin/inner thigh pain several weeks after surgery? I My inner thigh muscle is extremely tight and I believe it's muscle pain from therapy -just getting concerned.

I DID! You're HEALING! Do you feel the pain ease when you "walk it out?" Try it! :)

Oh yes, Melissa! I'm still having some of that groin pain, knee pain, thigh pain. I remember Jo saying the deep ache in the thigh would come I think around 4 weeks, and I didn't get it then, so naturally thought I wouldn't! NOT! I got it later, can't remember just when it started, but I'll still get it sometimes when I've overdone it or am really tired. And I'm at almost 14 weeks. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's all part of that healing process that we all want to hurry along, but it's going to take its own sweet time, and we've got to be patient! :) How's Emma??? :) How was your first day back?? :)

Yes Melissa - I'm getting the groin pain as well, and I had my THR last October! I get it now mainly if I've taken a really long step, or if I make a sudden twisting movement. It goes away fairly quickly though.
Funny you should start a thread about this, cos my main source of pain in my unoperated right hip is severe groin pain! I had it had work today and it was so severe I couldn't walk it off - had to sit down and rest.

I've been having some groin pain too, usually first thing in the morning or when I've been sitting for too long. It loosens up when I walk around a bit.

Oh Peta! All the signals of needing another THR...:(..

I'm still getting interesting little aches and pains, but back where you are now, oh yea.

Massage, rest, more PT, ice or heat. When all done, repeat until all better...

Keep the faith, girl! its a process that takes some time and patience.

Karen just checking in. I hope it starts to get better soon. You post and help everyone, now its your turn to be pamered. So ice , elevate, rest, chocolate, sleep, PT, just relax, Im sure that just made all the differnece in the world ..Lol no but take it easy hope you feel better soon............

I just wish if you need it, that you'd get it over with! You're much too active to be aching again! : I feel so bad for you, Peta!(

My private health insurance doesn't upgrade until September Judles, so I have to wait until at least then. I am definitely NOT having another THR in a hospital where I'm in a ward surrounded by men!

And there are other reasons why I'm trying to hang out for a bit longer. My husband will be away for most of September and we are still (at this stage) planning to go to Italy/France at the end of Sept/early Oct. We are going with my sister and other friends, so I really don't want to have to pull out! :(

I guess at this stage I'm hoping I can "manage" until early 2010. On my good days I'm optimistic about doing that, on my bad days I wonder whether I can last that long!

I'm in the process of getting some second opinions (I see another OS in a fortnight) so I want time to check out all my options as far as that goes as well.

Thanks for caring Judles - you are a treasure! :)

I know exactly what you mean with these insurance things! You have a resolve of steel which will serve ou well if you get to take that dream trip, Peta. We will just have to have some more of our special wine evenings! When you really feeling better, you MUST come to New York!!!! :)

Sometimes the work me to hard at PT too, and I feel the groin pain after, but I figure if it leads to recovery, I will let them. I'm still working on op-leg lifts laying down-----that muscle was not used in so long that it just stopped completely. That is the exercise that gives me groin pain the next day.

Hop

I know what you mean. Prior to surgery I had such server groin pain that it would keep me awake at night. Forget even thinking about getting in and out of a car!! So for me, even when I do the leg lifts in PT with the muscle that has not been used in so long, the pain is nothing in comparison. I just watch to make sure it is not becoming too inflamed though.

Hop, I was getting that pain with that exercise too, but I kept going. Then I heard and felt snapping in that area while doing the exercise. PT told me not to do them anymore. No more groin pain.

Wow! Really, Kathy? Most PT's would probably make you do even MORE of them to "work through the pain!". Those are toughies! :)
