I just had to share this because Jamie said on another thread to smile and enjoy things because it just gets better and better. And Jamie you are so right! I felt like a total nut-job today. I was doing leg extensions on the machine at my gym this morning and I increased the weight and my quad muscles were really burning on my operated leg. And I was sitting there grinning from ear to ear -- almost laughing! Because for 2 years no matter how much weight I used the damaged joint wouldn't send the proper signals to the quads and because of the pain in the joint - the quads just shut down. So they got weaker not stronger. Now I feel the burn and I know I am building strength and it's just so wonderful!!! I told the personal trainers I know there and they had the decency not to laugh at me -- because they know how important this is and what a great milestone it is!!!
So it is so true... every week brings something else that's so wonderful you just want to shout from the rooftops!!! I'm at almost 3 months out now.
It's really crazy!!! At the beginning when I read what Jamie said about the one year anniversary I couldn't believe it would ever be as good for me. But like I said -- Jamie you are SOOO right!!!! Wahoo!!!! I

Wow, I'm certainly feeling good hearing the story of your progress!!! Not that you won't have setbacks here and there - you will. But you are at the "discovery" stage of your recovery where you are relearning all the wonderful things that are possible with your knee working properly. This is so wonderful and thanks so much for sharing your joy. I'm right there with you!!!

YAY!!! What great news, Back!!!! Keep up the great recup! I'm sure the trainers have seen just about every kind of form there is!!! :)

thanks Judles and Jamie. And Jamie -- what a great way to put it - the "discovery" stage of recovery!! So true.

Yeah for you! Thanks for the sharing the good news. Thanks for all your support on my postings. I'm off tomorrow for a walk around Williamsburg VA for a week vacation. Keep up the good progress. /Hope

Thanks, Backbay. Last year I could barely hobble around the streets at all. I'm looking forward to see what I can do this time although I'm just at 7 weeks and my right knee with probably hold me back some. Just the thought of getting out in the fresh air and sitting in the gardens sounds wonderful.

Have a great week.

Hope
