Great thread!

Tom I am with you... Sauntering and strolling - can't wait to do them. I walk a little like Frankenstein. I keep forgetting there is nothing wrong with my knee! So my mind is constantly thinking heel, toe, heel toe, bend knee, dope-e. It's no wonder I don't run into things!

i lost my mom last year but that mantra still plays in my head.lol. heel toe heel toe dont drag your leg bend your knee. i used to have a 1 inch difference in legs now its up to 1 1/2 but when i got my lift for my right shoe(1/2) inch i had to watch myself in the mirror because i have no idea what normal is... not as easy as others would think.

My favourites are saunter, meander, wander, browse, amble, circumbabulate, roam, peregrinate, stroll, traipse, drift and stray. Nothing too strenuous, you see!

Fandabydoozy, Tex, thank you! I slept nearly all day on and off today as I was up till around 5am talking to a US buddy on the phone! As a result the day past in a kind of haze!

That's because of our 5 hour time difference, Tex! Jo! You really sound like you're doing great! How's the biking going? :)

Infrequently! But good. Totally painless except my knee keeps clunking but not too badly.

those are great words. especially after spending so long just trying to get from point a to point b. i love the quiet ones and the slow ones. i used to hurry just so my walking wouldnt be noticed.

Well this walking word game is awesome and has made me laugh. As you all know I am one who falls all the time. Today in PT I felt like I was 90 years old walking with my PT down the hall with a gate belt on as she tried to figure out what I was doing wrong. The word she used for me today was "SWINGLEG" because I swing my leg around instead of bending the knee. So my fun word of the day is SWINGLEG.

Mayberry

Oh tut tut, Mayberry! Get those legs going properly, girl.

Better than wretching, Rachel! How are you doing? :)

ive been aptly told that i walked like a penguin , and i'm ready to be asked if i'd like some fries with that shake. lol

you know what, i did walk like a penguin. now i'm short stepping. (bilat hip dysplasia). but for all those other names. we work hard at every step so weather we got a pimp limp, very cool by the way. or a swing leg, or a bad case of the arctic blues (penguin) its the fact that we dont give up that makes us great. and when we can stroll, strutt, and float. we can truly enjoy every step.

Mayberry,,,,,,swingleg sounds like something you do when you're mounting a horse!
Scott....I can only wonder why they would have said THAT!!!! Hmmmmm!!!! But I guess its better than gimp limp,,,,THAT would be sad!!! :)

Had a PT session last week where they tied latex bands around my ankles and had me walk. Point was I guess to even out the gait, but PT guy said I was walking like a had a load in my pants! Can't put that into a one word description on a polite forum....

Nice (UN)sympathetic PT you have thee, Leosmom! :) That clearly was a stupid comment! You should be PROUD of yourself!!! :). And tell him what he can do with those resistance bands!!!!! :)

leosmom, i hope your pt has good insurance, lol a few more remarks like that would require wire and a straw for him., and after believe me i would then be laughing.
even though a physical terrorist has to be tough during organized torture. there is a difference between tough and uncaring and uncalled for. dont tell me how i'm walking tell me how to do it right......

It's okay, I took PT comment with humor. Afterall, he didn't put me in a straight jacket after I told him I named my new hip joint 'Harvey' and every now and then will talk to it so I think he knew how much I could take.
