Its been 6 weeks since surgery. Three days ago, the burning in both knees stopped...and I felt a change for the better...wanted to do more active stuff.

When therapist arrived he watched me walk and do the knee bend thing...and put me to work using a cane indoors! I am so delighted! I also went up and down 13 stairs with cane and hand railing front ways...like normal people do! Will see my surgeon this Wed. and ask when I can resume driving. I knew from reading all your threads that 6 weeks was a benchmark of sorts...well, it surely has been for me. The best part is however, knowing that this time around, I won't have to wait for the knees to get "bad" again..this time I will only get better and better! Still at 120, 119 with knee bends...and want to get up to 130...so he gave me these lunges that I can do on the stairs...like some of you have been doing with one foot up on the toilet seat. Yea Lissa! Everone gets a free round at the local pub to clebrate with me tonight!

I'll drink to THAT, Lissa!!! Great report!

Ah yes, the lunges...I remember those from my last TKR...I haven't been given those to do yet with this TKR, but I do remember how strengthening they were...be faithful with them, they do pay off.

BTKR 7/20/09 I did have both knees done...June 23rd. Just learned about the lunges yesterday from PT. I am not happy with my bend..the lunges gie you more control and the back leg gets s great stretch, can't be a bad thing! It hurts to force yourself to really hold the lunge, but that knee to buttocks exercise is not pleasant for me either. Always check with your PT thou!
