Hi guys, here is the video link for the whole op. It's 62 mins long and very explicit.........if you are squeamish.....beware.

I just watched it again, and now my knee is aching lololol

Love and hugs Pat xx

This is the video my hubby and I watched together before my surgery.
One thing is for sure, after all was said and done, whenever my knee hurt, I knew EXACTLY why!!! At least it showed my hubby what I was in for.

In my job, I am able to go into the OR and watch a few procedures.
I am thinking that when I go back in to see the OS in January, I may ask him if I can sit in on one of his replacement surgeries. I am a medical coder and I code all the day surgeries done at our hospital. The docs are getting so creative with day surgeries now that it helps me understand it better to actually go in and watch a procedure. Some procedures that you used to spend days in the hospital for are now done on an outpatient basis.
Anyway, good video!

Hey that sounds like a good idea....
I have just applied for a job at the same hospital where I had my surgery, in the recovery room....if I get interview and it goes well, I will ask if I can sit in on an op....it will also give me another perspective, patients experience, watch the op live then nurse care afterwards.....wow....and my OS working next door....what more can a girl want?
lol

Love and hugs Pat xx

I did better than that, Pat - I worked with my OS for several years so he was hand picked! Was the same with my gynae when I had my hysterectomy! Also the anaesthetists on both occasions. You got strings, use'm says I!

This is the video I watched before surgery as well. I am one who needs to know what is going to happen and what I can expect..........
I strongly suggest those who are anticipating TKR to also purchase the book Total Knee Replacement & Rehabilitation written by an OS and a PT, both of whom have had the surgery themselves. Great book!
Best,
Crystal

Am just reading that - is excellent! Ship, why don't you post a review of the book in the Book reviews? It's a sticky in the pre-surgery forum.

I watched this video. I tried to get my hubby to watch but he is too squimish. It is brutal surgery and no wonder the patient hurts so much afterwards. But I like to know what I am getting into and what is being done to me.

This just reinforces why I woke up from surgery with sciatica pain. I'm about 80% recovered now after traction and cortisone shots. Yikes.
