Best wishes for your surgery @golfer67

Hip Recovery: The Guidelines
1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary
2. Control discomfort:
BIG TIP: Hips actually don't need any exercise to get better. They do a pretty good job of it all on their own if given half a chance. Trouble is, people don't give them a chance and end up with all sorts of aches and pains and sore spots. All they need is the best therapy which is walking and even then not to excess.
We try to keep the forum a positive and safe place for our members to talk about their questions or concerns and to report successes with their joint replacement surgery.

Congrats! You’re up, watching tv with surgery behind you. I hope your pain is well managed and you’re able to rest comfortably. Keep us posted, we’re here for you! @golfer67
My doctor came in and told me that labrum was shredded and the FAI was definitely a problem and that the femoral head was badly degenrated. He said that I certainly needed a hip replacement. The thing is that all this degeneration of my hip joint did not show up to be this bad on the xrays and MRI. Yes some problems were identified on the xrays and MRI but not nearly as much as was actually there. My point is if you are having pain and the film's don't show it have your doctor do a diagnostic injection and let that be the final authority s to if your hip is bad or not.
Welcome to the other side! Sounds like you made the right decision moving forward with surgery. Hope you can get some rest - but hospitals aren't exactly the best place for it.
Congrats and welcome to the healing recovery side. Your point is well made: keep advocating for yourself especially when you’re feeling differently from what the docs are saying. Glad everything worked out well for you.
Wow, that sounds dreadful. Your hip was in rough shape. Thankfully you’re on the mend. I have to say I read here often of surgeons, or their PA’s re-enforcing how necessary the THR they just performed was. My PA told my family “how bad it was” as they waited for word my surgery was over.
Can you imagine if one came back and said “Whoopsie, guess we didn’t need to do that after all?!!”
Happy healing, you’re going to love the second chance this great surgery affords us! @golfer67
Congrats on your new hip and it's good to see you here on the healing side. Sitting in a chair watching TV is good for your first day. Hopefully you get some restful sleep tonight.
I made it home late on friday. There was some sort of a mixup with my medication and the pharmacy had to call my doctor to get it cleared up so I didn't have all my pain pills until this morning. I was in so much pain this morning that I could hardly move but once my wife went and got the pain meds everything smoothed out. So now this evening I am doing okay and just glad I am on the recovery side of this operation.
I’m sorry to hear about the mix up with your meds and the resulting discomfort you were forced to deal with because of it. Thankfully you’re resting comfortably now under the care of your loving wife. I hope your pain remains well managed and you have a peaceful night.
Don't forget to ice It works wonders! @golfer67
