Ok, I know there are some golfers on this site. When were you able to start playing again? I was an avid golfer for years but, slowed way down about 4 years ago. I want to start up again and I forgot to ask my Dr. at my last appointment.

Mike--I picked up golf as a virtual beginner about 6-7 years ago and quickly quit because I couldn't pick up the golf ball. I broke 100 only once. Now, I'm very excited about the prospect of getting back to it, especially with much added and necessary flexibility. My OS released me to play golf at my 1-month post-op appt. I haven't done so yet, but I intend to soon. My cousin, who had RTHR, played 18 holes at 1-month post op and another 15 holes the next day (and overdid it, of course). But I worry because I am a lefty and it is a bit of an unnatural movement.

Wow!! 1 month huh? What concerns me is that I am a right hander and my left hip was done so, I finish with quite a bit of force on my left side. I have this nightmare of it popping out of socket on my follow through.

T-Mike--I have the same concern from the opposite side as my right leg is weaker than my left. I plan this weekend to go and hit a few balls just to get the feel of it again (as if I ever had the feel!). I was anterior, so I'm not worried about dislocating, just worried about hurting myself on the swing and follow through. I have the same concern with swinging a baseball bat and with swinging an ax. I have a large pile of timber in my back yard that needs to be split. It's great exercise, but I gotta figure that it is high impact.
