I went to OS today and made a date for surgery on Nov 19th. My birthday is on the 22nd, I think that's the day I get out of hospital. Some present huh? I'm a bit melancholy having to have it over the Holidays as I am the one who cooks Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner. Had to tell my family the news, they took it quite well. I know I will be the one crying. Since I already had the right one done I thought I might as well get it over with so I can get on with my life.

Hearing how all of you with BTKRS are doing helps out a lot. At least I'll know what to expect. I didn't even cry when he told me the date, last time I broke down like a baby. DH keeps telling me I'll be okay but I'm a nervous nellie. I know better to take stool softners right away as I didn't really think important till I had a problem. :shk:

Rhonda.....you have the right attitude going there, girl. Git 'er done!!! This holiday season your gift will be your family taking care of you for a change. What a treat for them and for you. They get to feel good for doing something nice for someone they love and you get to enjoy all their fussing over you. Plus you get a new knee. Sounds like a winner all the way around!!!

Hi Rhonda, Jamie Is so right, everything is going to be fine! It sounds like you
deserve a break from KP. The plus side, Instead of spending most of the
day in the kitchen, you will be able to spend more time with family Best Wishes!!

Rhonda,
I know how you are feeling, I too am the one that always does the cooking and hosting. But you are giving your family a chance to do this for you this year. It is going to be ok I promise!!! Cross my heart!! Even if the food is not as good as yours try to remember it really is the thought that counts.
Please let us know how you are feeling

Hi Rhonda welcome i wish you the best in your surg and recovery.......post anytime.........you will have a great Christmas ans then pain free from there.............good luck yo you...post anytime...........)

Thanks everyone for all your well wishes. I think we will order Thanksgiving & Christmas from Marie Callendars. Let her do the cooking this year. I'm going to try to get as much done as I can before I'm laid up. I love having my grandchildren over. I hope I will be comfortable enough to be able to enjoy them. Last time I had absolutely no energy to do anything. All I did was sleep and cry.

Thanks to Bonesmart I felt I wasn't alone. I try to tell people I meet who have had TKR about this site because it helped me out sooo much!

The fact that it's the holidays and people will be around just might be enough to distract you from those "down" times in early recovery.

Best of luck to you, let us know how it goes!
Gale

I agree, Gale. And who knows....everyone may enjoy the "no fuss" of Marie's cooking that it becomes a new tradition....where you spend time with the people you love instead of huffing and puffing in the kitchen!
