Yes, alligator tastes a lot like Chicken. I know everyone jokes about that, but it's true. Elk is so tender and wonderful. So is moose. Not many wild hogs up here. We mostly have deer and elk. And a few jack rabbits and coyotes, but we just shoot them, we don't eat 'em.

Is the plural of moose moose's or moosi?
And I agree, gator does taste like chicken.

Glory hallelujah - they're talking about FOOD again!!

Anyone know what this pudding is?

[Bonesmart.org] Gatiger

I call it as bread pudding but I've got a feeling it might be blood pudding.

Nope ... you might find the name just as yukky though ...

Well I've had chittlins so it can't get much worse than that. Do you know what those are??
I give on yours.

Josephine,
Don't make me go to bed not knowing....Now I'll have to wake up just to see if you reveal the answer.

Okay - hold on tight ....

It's a good old fashioned British pud called

Spotted Dick!!!

Oh no, I think when everyone wakes up and sees this, things could get rough.
Do men in England really look up at a waitress or worse yet a waiter and say, "I would like a spotted dick"? If the waitress smiled I'd be happy. If the waiter smiled, I'd hit him!!

Those spotted thing will make you do that! Can't help it...........I just have this mental picture of a leopard looking _______.

OK this a recipe for Spotted Dick and I will find an explanation for the name.

Spotted Dick
2 oz plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
pinch of salt
2 oz shredded suet
1 oz white or brown sugar
4 oz currants
2 oz fresh breadcrumbs
1 egg, beaten
4-5 tbsp milk

This all gets steamed in a cloth or basib for about 2 hours.

Origin:

Spotted Dick-Spotted or Dog; is a traditional British dessert made from suet pastry and dried fruit—namely currants. And therein lies the first clue—the currants are the 'spots'. Secondly, the suet pastry is rolled Swiss or American Jellyroll style—that represents the 'dog'.

'Possibly "pudding" became "puddink" and "puddick" and then just "dick."

Here's another favouriye of mine, Toad in the Hole, this is a main course. I'll leave that one with you while I go and get ready for physio.

I'm gonna have to stick with my country ham, red eye gravy, cat head biscuits, eggs, grits, grandma's plum jelly and a big glass of cold sweet milk!

I fear I'd have to get shots to eat yours!
