I have been trying to get approved for THR this winter with Dr. Chow for a SuperPATH hip. It’s been almost two months and he was supposed to review my films Tuesday. I was supposed to hear back this week. Still nothing, I even called and left a message with his MA. I am afraid I am going to miss my window to get scheduled in December when I can go to Arizona with my husband and eleven year old.

Sorry just had to vent. So tired of being in pain.

@Uncivil Does this surgeon have an associate that he has trained in Superpath? Unfortunately this is the major issue when you want to engage with these specialists.

Vent anytime here - we understand! So sorry you are experiencing that horrid pre-op pain.

I think I would call the office and ask to speak to his nurse. You could then explain your situation to her and she might be sympathetic and help you. It is difficult, but the experts are swamped with requests, I am sure they are trying to do their best.

Because there are not many doctors who do the Superpath Hips.

Yes I am really set on the superpath. There is actually someone a lot closer that does superpath but has terrible reviews. Think I just need to be patient. I will be calling tomorrow. Being out of state definitely complicates things!

If you're really set on Superpath then consider researching others, aside from Dr Chow, or the one close by with bad reviews.
I wish you well in your search and comfort as you wait.
A great week to you!

Thanks everyone. Dr chow should be reviewing my file Thursday and hopefully I will hear from his assistant Friday.

Hey @Uncivil, I was thinking about you the other day. A friend of mine was at a big dressage clinic in Vancouver this past weekend, and said she was chatting with a breeder gal from the Vancouver area who went down to the US to Dr. Chow (I'm pretty sure). Apparently this gal walked out and went home three hours after having THR with him. Wondering if you were able to get it with him? Sounds pretty amazing! I'm off to the OR for my second hip tomorrow morning. Looking forward to getting it done and have both hips done and dusted. My posterior surgery and rehab is very traditional time wise, but I'm impressed with my healing on the first hip. I'm going with the slow and steady wins the race. My surgeon said I'll be in the same place healing wise as an anterior patient at six months post op. The super path surgery looks really amazing! Hope that you are making progress, either already having had your surgery or are about to have it! Would love to hear how you are doing...and hoping you are no longer in pain!

I am updating this thread as a year later I am trying again to get my hips replaced. I was ultimately referred to an associate of Dr. Chow in seattle who recommended I wait for treatment until my arthritis has further progressed. I saw him last november. Well he reviewed my recent films and gave me the go ahead so I am working to get in with Dr. Chow again. I should have more info next tuesday after he reviews my current films. Keeping my fingers crossed.
